Thumbs down incompetent mazda of orange. someone recommend me a dealer who can do the 8's recall

just 2 days ago, i went to mazda of orange to take care of my 8's recent recall.
randy richards was my service advisor.
what pisses me off is that he had no idea that there was a recall for the 8.
also, he had no idea what needed to be done to take care of the recall.
Since he didn't know much, he said he'll talk to some other people and try to take care of it.
he rented me a ford focus to take home while i leave the 8 at the dealer. btw, their "policy" is that they can only let people take rental cars for 2 days.
i call later that day, and he tells me that it can't be done that day.
i said ok, i'll call back tomorrow (which is today).
i called today and randy the "service advisor" tell me that they won't be able to take a look at the 8 because there are about 4~5 cars in front of mine.
the rental guy told me that i had to return the car in two days so i asked randy what can be done since i don't have a car if return the rental car.
he tells me "well, you could pay for it yourself."
like hell i'm paying for a rental car out of my own pocket when this is a recall by mazda.
I said i'll take it to an another dealer and picked up the 8.
basically, i went back today after work, picked up my 8 without a thing being done other than me wasting my time and mazda of orange wasting $60 for the focus.

someone let me know a COMPETENT dealer in orange county, ca where they've actually taken care of the 8's recall. thanks.

Long Beach Mazda has been getting recalls in and out in the same day. They have been handling quite a few. I dropped my car off in the morning, picked up my rental at enterprise next door, picked my car up in the evening. Great service, but they do not seem to be aware of the car wash/ free gas letter. I would recommend taking that dealer letter in with you. Otherwise very smooth experience.

Definitely let us know, I'm scheduled to drop my car off at Browning so I want to know if they do a good job. I'm leary because I had a not so positive experience with Mitsubish when they were part of the Browning group.

Alhambra Mazda seems to be doing me right. They went and checked for recalls, checked the engine mount I was complaining about, checked all the work I had previously had done, looked up TSBs, did everything they could to help me out today. They even got me a rental. I haven't even gotten the recall letter yet, but they are being proactive and looking at it for me. I will post back when I pick the car up tomorrow.

BTW... I would never let any Browning Group touch any of my cars again. You can drop your car off problem free for an oil change, and walk out needing a new transmission... twice.

H.B. mazda has done good work from what I hear. I took mine to Tustin Mazda (who is normally good) but they dropped the ball on the recall.

hb is to far away for service. can't wait on car while its being worked on i'd be there all day. and i'd like to see them give me a ride this far away. all dealers have good and bad, you just have to catch them on a good day.
so far i've had no problems with browning, and i'm not saying i won't, but so far it's good. hate to drive 50 miles just to get service.
nothing missing on the car and no dents, and car is working good so i'm happy...

No need to wait or ask for a ride. Mazda has to furnish a rental at no additional cost to you for any recall work.

Thumbs up

I posted this in the general recall thread, but I want these folks to get all the kudos they deserve! (Stephanie was the service advisor, by the way.) Hope it helps!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Just got mine ('05 w/15K mi) done at Phillips Mazda in Laguna Hills, CA (just a few miles down Hwy 5 from MNAO).

Made the appointment four days in advance. Took the car in dirty (but not disgustingly) with 1/2 tank of fuel, no letter. They verified the VIN was in the range for the recall.

Got a 6 as a loaner, no fuss and no BS about insurance deductibles. "Just fill it up before you bring it back."

They called the same evening: car got the flash and new plugs. When I got there it was out front, cleaner inside and out than when they originally delivered it (bought it off the same dealer's used lot w/5K on it), and a full tank. "Sign here and here, how did you like the 6?" and we were out the door.

Good on ya, folks!

sorry to hear about their incompetence... i think jedi54 said tustin mazda is pretty good...

on a side-note, if it's any consolation to you, AT LEAST THAT DEALER DIDN'T MAKE 3 ******* SCRATCHES to your passenger side front door during the recall work, as did ALHAMBRA MAZDA did to mine! (those RAT BASTARDS, i tell u...)

My experience with Browning Mazda in Cerritos has not been good so I recommend that you stay away. I dropped off my car Monday and picked it up today, Wednesday. When I dropped it off it ran great, had a tad under half a tank of gas and was a little dusty.

Today when I dropped it off it was dirty with finger prints all over the car, a dent on the front fender that I didn't notice until I got home. The windshield was filthy, it looked like it was wiped down with an oily rag. The gas tank was on empty to add insult to injury. The car runs like ****, it wants to stall whenever I lift off the accelerator and it bucked all the way home. When I got it home I removed my aftermarket intake to reinstall the factory airbox so they can diagnose their screw up and not try to blame the intake for the bad driveability. When I disconnected the rubber accordian piece oil poured out of the intake, not dripped but poured.

I'm taking it back and want them to make it right but I think I am SOL on the dent because I didn't notice it until I got the car home. Once this fiasco is taken care of I will never ever ever do business with Browning even though they did sell me the car at a fair price. This is the shittiest experience I have ever had with ANY dealership.

it's amazing how it really is a hit or miss sometimes. i've heard more people
complain about browning, but i've yet to have a problem with them. well i might
end up going to long beach mazda, in the future. it's closer to where i live but not by much.
but then maybe or not...
