Illegal clear corners in CA

Hey fellow 8 owners in CA. Just an informal poll here. Has anyone ever gotten pulled over with clear corners and the stock clear lamps in CA? Technically its illegal to not have amber lights, as most probably know. I can't imagine it is real problem, but thought I would ask. Opinions?

Stick an amber bulb in there, you'll be fine. Stealth amber bulb, you'll be even finer!

Actually the law states that they can be amber or white.

They must be amber on the side as well as the turn signals. He is trying to tell you the stealth bulbs only look amber when lit. And it is true the side markers ARE NOT TURN SIGNALS.

Here then. Sorry I quoted the wrong one, they're right next to each other on the list.

My understanding is, unless the cops are really bored, having a bad day, or just don't like the way you or your car looks, then they'll pull you over just for Side-Marker violation, or among other "non-moving" violations. Of course, this varies between cities. Some cities the cops are just too busy to pay attention to these micro violations. But some (safer) cities, the cops just have nothing better to do. I've been cited in the past for having Tint in the front window, and non-approved color for the License Plate light, but that was added on to my moving violation.

Talked to my brother who is a CHP officer, bulb can be clear/white or amber. Showed him my clear corners, said they were fine.

Hey folks,

I did some vehicle code investigation and it appears to me that there is a contridiction or omission. the first sentence supports the argument that white clear corner lights are legal, but the rest refers strictly to amber clear corners. I would like to think that they just accidentally omitted the reference to the white corner lights after the first sentence. I bet you could beat this in court if you got pulled over for a white corner light. What is your interpretation?

Side, Cowl, or Fender Lamps

25106. (a) Any motor vehicle may be equipped with lighted white or amber cowl or fender lamps on the front. Any vehicle may be equipped with not more than one amber side lamp on each side near the front, nor more than one red side lamp on each side near the rear. The light source of each such lamp shall not exceed four standard candlepower.

(b) Lamps meeting requirements established by the department for side-marker or combination clearance and side-marker lamps may be installed on the sides of vehicles at any location, but any lamp installed within 24 inches of the rear of the vehicle shall be red, and any lamp installed at any other location shall be amber.

i thight it was a u.s. law that if you change anythign on the car..the light has to remain the original color of the manufacture. so you can put the clear corner marker on...but the light has to be amber..b/c that's what the us spec rx-8 came with. (don't quote me but that is my understanding of it)

i have clear corners with the regular factory white bulbs. the factory sidemarker is orange so the white light turns amber out the corners. so my car shines white lights. However, I'm still waiting to get stealth bulbs just for the fun of it.

It all depends

some cops are jerks like sociopath has said

if you use clear markers it helps to have amber bulbs or stealth amber
I have clear and I use hyper white
hyper white is illegal and you can get a ticket for the clear side marker
you can get a ticket because you have modified it from stock

changes are you wont get pulled over unless it is for something else like speeding

This seems like a good price compared to the stealth amber (which I can't find anyway). I ordered and will let you all know how they perform. they were about $12 and change (shipped.)

I got a stupid ticket for my stock head lights. I live in Monterey Park, and I had to pay a 10 dollar court fee for my stock lights. I guess driving a yellow car don't help :p

I had to go to court and fight it cuz I was pissed and I ended up paying ******* $200 for my own damn Honda Safety Tint because Judge said there is no way that I was telling the truth you filthy ricer!! Well not like that he said it but that is the feeling I got, bastard I even had the car inspected at SF Honda and had a letter from them confirming that it was a real Honda Safety Tint that was a smokey color in the front windows.

I've had clear corners on my car ever since I first purchase the car 18 months ago. I've had a speeding ticket, but the cop didn't pay any attention to the clears that I had. Basically from my experience, it all depends on the cop. If the cops a ********, he will right you up for the most ridiculous violations. If you have clears, but the light emits an amber-ish color, then I think it should be okay.

Unless you live over near Cal Poly San Luis Obispo area, my brother got fix-it-tix for all kinds of bull **** from loud exhaust, clear corners, to tint...you name it. Evidently the cops over in that area hate any types of modifications whatsover.
