Good repair shop in LA? My daughter is going to USC in the fall

Good repair shop in LA? My daughter is going to USC in the fall

with my RX8. I need to find a good Mazda Shop that will take care of the 8 for her out there. We will be out of warranty by then so there is no need to be tied to a Mazda dlr. Mostly, oil change brake work stuff - but she just needs a place to visit every 5K miles or so.

how would u be out of warranty next year??? even if u bought it in 04 or 03 u still have another year or two left on ur four year warranty...

p.s. im an *** i was intoxicated when writing this comment o.O

44K on the car now+2300miles to LA doesn't give me much space to the 50K warranty.

RU happy with your Mazda Service so far? It's been pretty terrible going through the dealer here. Seems like thay need 3 days to do anything... They add the stupid environmental fee for everything and it is a percentage of the total bill ! What a rip off!

Rotary Relieabilty and racing. They are in Santa Ana and ONLY deal with mazda's. 90% rotary, 10% Miata. Check the link for the shop info. The have been doing RX-7's and 8's since they came out. Great guys fair prices no BS.

um........ mazdatrix in long beach. www.mazdatrix.com these guys only deal with rotaries. the last time i was there, they were rebuilding 2 FDs and 3 RX8s

Dude, have some respect. Even though you're joking, that's his daughter. NOT funny or cool.

Bigguy, I've had difficulty finding a good steady place to take my 8 to in the L.A. area. I had a friend who was a mechanic and he moved. So I take my 8 to Midas for brakes and oil changes. Not ideal but at least they're a big enough chain that if I get ripped off (which I don't anticipate), I can contact corporate office to bust heads (which I've done successfully). I've had no problems so far going to Midas for the regular checkups/oil changes/brake jobs.

I'm still sniffing out a good shop, though, so if I'm successful, I'll let ya know. And congrats to your daughter for getting into USC. Great school. I can't believe you gave her your 8, by the way. Lucky girl.

Yeh, I needa start looking for a reliable repair shop too... Seems most shops rip you off and the dealer is a bitch to go through... My Check Engine Light is on and i have to take it to the dealer and hope that it's nothing that's gonna cost an arm and a leg...

I have a couple friends who help me with installs and I met a few people at meets that know what they're doing so if anything, just get to know fellow local 8 owners who you can call if you got any trouble.

Oh a friend of mine is going to USC this fall and she's in love with 8's. I think she's majoring in architecture. Good luck in finding a shop and welcome to socal! It's great down here! Just watch out for the police giving fix-it-tickets for no front license plates and all that stuff...

Also Tri Point in the San Fernando Valley is very good. Only deals with RX's & Mazda's.

I have my car back, so anytime. Actuator is still defective, so it only boosts to 7 psi, but should give you a good feel for what FI power is like, and if you want it. Anytime you want to/can come up or If I come down, I'll let you know.

like i keep telling people, if you live near long beach. you should really check out mazdatrix.

Don't live near Long Beach and don't wanna! :P

I might have to make the trip if I'm really getting nowhere but it's a bit of a drive for me; want to try to find a mechanic much closer like actually in Los Angeles and not closer to OC. But it seems like OC has all of the best 8 mechanics (I've been told of several good ones in the area).

mazdatrix is good and reliable... but they are expensive compared to other shops. they quoted me 400 for shock installations inc. alignment, while a BMW performance shop (ef1) offered me 220 with alignment as well. but if u wanna go for there for the sake of going to a rotary performance shop go to mazdatrix, but if its simple work done i suggest just going to a car guy who will probably be cheaper

Thanks for the info all... I suspect the first big thing to be replaced will be the Brakes/shocks service item, and perhaps plug @ 60Kmiles. Oil changes, of course every 5 K or so. I'm going to have it serviced up just before school starts.
