Does Galpin Mazda coupon really work?

My 8 was due for a 30K service. Galpin Mazda mailed me a letter to remind me the car is due for a 30K service. This letter was addressed to me and included some detail info about my car, info such the year, model, approx miles, brake and tires condtions recorded from previous visit. On the bottom of the letter is a 30K service coupon for $299.00.

My prior experiences with Galpin were great; I was going to bring the car to Galpin anyway. To my surprise, they told me the coupon does not apply to my car. They told me to read the fine prints which states the cost may be slightly higher on some model. The actual cost for 8 is $450.00. I don't know what is Galpin's difinition of "slightly higher", but additional 50% of an advertised coupon is not "slightly higher" in my dictionary.

I sure felt like a sucker who drove 20 miles to Galpin for a questionable marketing practice. Why Galpin mailed me a coupon that does not apply to my car in a much customized letter for my car? So I was wondering how many fellow 8s out there have similar experience?

^^Sorry dude..Galpin sucks @$$. i took my 8 there for an oil change once and they over filled it. Come on now, that's unacceptible. I called and told the the service manager that they should be a bit more careful and attentive, how many folks has this happened to?

The SM apologized and didn't do anything to rectify it, so I never went back. Now I take it to a small shop near my place.. they always call me out to see if the oil level is correct--I like that.

I always take the coupon from Mazda dealer A and have Mazda dealer B match it. That way, I get the price I want at the dealer I want.

Never been an issue. Some of the SM's squirm a bit, but its just giving them a little of the same treatment they give us (my final price - take it or leave it).
