I know you asked for Hawaii peeps, but was wondering if you can help me out.. .was planning to go to Maui or the Big Island in January, first week... is that a decent time to go? The weather that is... :P Not much rain I'd hope.

Depends.. Hawaii is never consistent. January could be sunny as all paradise, but I'm willing to bet it will be cloudy and overcast with possible showers.

Now back to the topic... Hawaii 8s!!!

OTOH, I am going to install a iPod adapter (kind of like the ICE link), that's a mod of sorts...

Sup! I got a black 8 with JIC FLT-A2s on them. Slammed the car down 2 3/4" all the way around, probably gonna go 1/4" more. Planning on picking up my exhaust and midpipe next, hopefully by the end of the month. I'm from Ewa Beach. Where you from? What mods you did so far? K-den!

I'm from Moanalua.. I've done only minor mods as my vbGarage shows.. Rims, markers, MP3, accents.. nothing fancy.

Was considering the Racing Beat cat back exhaust but am curious to how it sounds compared to stock. The clips online are one thing, hearing it in real life is something else. Also was considering the RB springs and bars... I only want a modest drop but keep handling the same or better.

As you can tell, I'm for the modest changes, nothing too major :p

 

If you thought the car handled nice when it was stock, with these coilovers and the settings I have it at, it is just down right awesome. Now I can't wait to beef up the suspension even more. The car did suffer a lot of camber, and I still need to get it aligned. I was going to align it at my workplace, but the car is just to low to make it on the rack. I also did the installation myself in my own garage. I still don't have pics of my car yet, but will try to get some soon.

The Racing Beat catback exhaust is the same one I'm going to pick up. Along with that I'm going to pick up the RP midpipe.

By the way, nice ride. Where did you get your clear markers from? How much did they cost you? We should meet up some time.

Sweet! I take it you work at a auto shop then? When you get the RB exhaust we definitely need to meet up. I'd like to hear it.

RP Midpipe? Is that the Rotary performance one? I dunno about going cat less and doing that 02 thing. But if you do, I wanna hear that too!! Are you going to do it at the same time (catback and midpipe)?

I got the clears from JT-Imports back when they were like $27 or something like that.

 

The midpipe I'm gonna get is the one from Rotary Performance. Planning on doing the piping and catback one at a time, first with the catback. I'll let you know how that goes.

Hey modded 8's in Hawaii, is it true that you have to have a RECON approved to be able to install a mod there? I read it in a different forum and the guy was in Hawaii.

 

Yup! We need to get our vehicles inspected after we do any mods to our cars. I don't really care about it. I say to hell with RECON!

 

recon is on the books, but the cops don't really enforce 'em. l

 

Hey guys I have a slightly moded 8 also. I had 18inch doluck wheels just bought 19" volk sf challenges and i have the sp2 exhaust and other small mods

Also, do you have the TPMS on your Volks? Where did you get them built/installed?

 

In the process just got em on the other day car is really dirty due to the weather but im sure u know about that :P No TPMS will not fit on the SF Challenge will take pics later on after i clean my car though. I got the wheels through wheels warehouse really good deal $3400 shipped and balanced

I just came back from Oahu and saw a least 6 RX8's!!! I saw 2 grays, 1 silver, 1 green, 1 black (with wheels) and 1 red.

I was like damn I gotta get those wheels. Funny thing is my friend has a G35 with those exact same wheels oh well. How did you enjoy Hawaii? Hope you had fun. I used to have Do-Luck wheels on before wasn't happy with them though and bought the Volks after seeing your car on this forum, your car is HOT!
