Oh yea, so I got free lunch because of my car the other day.
I was driving east, was around Tracy and stopped for some gas. A lady with a Civic was across from me at the pump asked me about my 8. We had a nice conversation. Turns out she owned an FC and now has an FD which was currently in the shop. She tracks a Miata.
We were talking, she asked if I wanted to grab some lunch at the mcdonald's that was next door, ended up buying me lunch. Pretty cool lady. She was around Matt's age tho, so she was kinda old.

I Have a Request for My Bay Area Friends...
A fellow forum member, "Slideways"(Andre) is looking into having me come to the Bay Area to do an engine rebuild for him. However, I would like to make sure the rebuild is necessary before I come out and before he starts throwing money around. Might any of you be willing to help me diagnose his engine by helping him do the tests I need done? We're talking simple stuff like compression, etc.
I am the Oakland-based forum member formerly known as 'Sapphonica'. I have a 2004 Velocity Red.
Along with being one of the first 'crash test dummies' for the GReddy kit in the Bay area, I also was a charter member of the 'Dead Renesis Club' after the pinheads from ProStreet (pox be upon them) buggered up the install and my engine grenaded.
After that, I had Rick's Rotary do a rebuild that included a street port, racing clutch, high flow injectors, the Racing Beat MOP mod, and used the Xede for EMS (full control of fuel and spark & it has a built in boost controller).
It has been running like a champ since then with the help of 2 gallons/tank of ERC race gas to keep the pings away. However, last Friday evening something went badly awry and I sure hope it isn't another blown engine since I am totally cash-less.
Well hello! wowsers! you put that 8 through some work. I agree with DJ with rotorsport, it's probably the easiest place to get the work done. There is another shop in Hayward too, but I forgot their name.
