Putnam Mazda

Has anyone pre-ordered with them? If so, have you received any confirmation or literature from them since? To date, I have received nothing, other than verbal reassurance that my order has been placed and I'm 7 of 7 in their first allotment. I'll believe it when I see it...

All this talk of 2nd and 3rd confirmation emails and brochures is making me grow more and more frustrated each day. If I have to, I'll reluctantly bail out and do business elsewhere. The only problem is that it's too late at this point to start over with the pe-order process at another dealer, so I guess I'm stuck.

I didn't pre-order with Marina (I placed my order on 04/05.) I'm not sure exactly which allotment my order falls. I think 1st or second, based on his comment about "having a blue one left." I have also received no confirmation emails; but I think you only get those if you placed your pre-order with rx8orders@mazdausa.com, so I'm not worried.

I talked to Ray on 5/20 to check my status and at that point he said that my order "was accepted by the factory" and that he had just received brochures which he would be sending out. He didn't have my VIN or any pricing for many of the "new" dealer/port options which appeared in the brochure. He said the dealers aren't getting much info from Mazda, and "people on the Internet seem to have more information than we do."

Basically, I'm trusting Ray/Marina, and will try to be patient until mid-August. Heck, each week that passes gets me closer to buying the car outright.

Marina Motors, Capitola

I received a brochure from Marina Motors a couple of days ago.
When I called (the third time) they said that they have one VIN number so far
out of the 7 first allocation entries.
They get updates every couple of days.
I am #4 on their first allocation, according to them, so I am hoping for some
VIN news next week

As for emails from Mazda, I have had two:
Factory has accepted your order
See the X-men movie (other discussion thread indicates this is unrelated to order)

My back up car is the EVO. Drove one on 5/24 and was very impressed.

Mazda book received.

Marina Motors sent me the brochure on
Friday, May 23.
On Tuesday, May 27, I received the Mazda
RX-8 book even though I was on a
dealer allocation and probably not on the
pre-order list (if there is a difference between
them).

I just called Ray and got my VIN number
as well.
Estimated production date: 5/30/03 :D
