I wish I hadn't been so slammed with work this past few weeks. I'd have loved to get a group together to go to the Men's Luxury Toy Expo & Auction. Anyone go today or going tomorrow??

THX Pool. If you're up for it I'll talk to the wife. I promised her tomorrow since I haven't seen her all day today. I do want to go! Maybe I can tell Erin it's a flower show.

welp... I guess I have to withdraw myself from the rx8 AZ members list

I traded in the rx8 today after 3 great years of owning it and 50,000 miles of driving it.

I am now the proud owner of a....

Well HUGE congrats to you phatkat! Darn we never got to meet at an RX-8 event. Perhaps you'd like to meet our friends at AZ Mazda Club with your new CX-9 hawtness . You should sign up, I'm thinking you're the first CX-9!

So...tell us all about it. Is it fun? Handling? Horse power? Torque? Movie/dvd player? Satellite radio or iPod capable? Just how many grocery bags + kids can you get in there?

Yup... I never really made it to many rx8 events :o
I really loved the rx8 but since I have a 3rd gen rx7 and a yammy r1 crotch rocket and then had the rx8 I really didn't have a huge need for 3 fast vehicles. It wasn't a problem until now when I actually have the need for something that can hold more people (starting a photography business and need to haul gear and people).

So far I have only put less than 100 miles on it so I can't say TOO much about it. It's defiantly does NOT handle like a SUV. I can't take it around corners like I can the rx8 but I can sure go faster than most SUV and for the most part she stays pretty level.

I really am amazed at how nice it rides compared to most other suvs or trucks I have been in / driven. Don't even get me started about all the features this thing has for the money. I did not get the nav system (didn't see the need) and I did not get the rear dvd entertainment system (since I don't have a family or kids to tote around) but I did get the upgraded stereo system and the moonroof (one package).

I was going to get the sport model (I didn't REALLY want leather) but the bluetooth cell phone hands free only comes in the touring and grand touring model which only come in leather. After testing out the system with my phone the other day I was hooked. It's just a dream and works GREAT.... kind of like the onstar stuff but BETTER and through your own phone and cell service so you don't need another provider. I did not get the satellite radio but a MAJOR decision on what I was going to buy was highly depending on hooking up my ipod (seeing as I have a 60gb FULL) it is the only way I listen to music... and I LOVE my music. For $180 (they are ordering it for me) they make an adapter that will hook to any ipod (w/ the bottom dock) and charge and connect the ipod to the car allowing you to use all of your steering wheel controls to control the ipod. I'm not sure if it displays the ipod info on the dash but since it does do that for MP3 cd's I don't see why it wouldn't. We'll just have to wait and see.... oh ya... it has a 6cd indash changer.

So far I'm not trying to take it too hard but during my test drives.... I have to say that v6 they got in there has A LOT of go. Which will be really nice coming from fast cars to this. I'm going to have to get use to auto from stick this is actually the first and only auto car I have ever owned. I find myself resting my hand on the ..... ummm whatever you call it now... the thing that changes gears/modes lol. I have to teach myself not to mess with it when I'm coming to a stop lol.

There is a TON of space in this thing.... it seats 7... AND the whole middle row (in 2 sections) can actually slide forward and back (just like a front seat would). Makes it much easier to accommodate people of all sizes. You can also lay down both rear rows completely flat and haul a TON of stuff.

I know Mazda had a hit with the cx-7... but as far as I'm concerned they blew it out of the water with the cx-9.

I'll let you guys know how things go as I get more miles on it. I actually did meet the AZ Mazda Club the other day since they had a meeting at the same dealership I got the car on the same day

I'll still be around in RCCAZ tho since I still have the rx7 (which might I add will be running in a couple of weeks.... baring any MAJOR complications)

wow... this is long

Thanks Easy and Poolside! Boxcar told me about the AZMC post too... need to get registered over at that forum still...

Yes, absoultely, I want to join you guys this year!
Last year I entered my red Scion tC, and ended up talking with Boxcar for 2 hours about car PC's!

I have since traded in the Scion for the Mazda, and now have my own RX-8 with Car PC! Damn you Shawn!
Became a pretty big Mazda fan since too; talked my dad into getting a loaded Mazda3 GT 5 door 3 months ago, and mom just picked up her loaded CX-9 GT a few weeks ago!

Gonna see if I can get this wing painted this week, and get my new JIC coilover suspension aligned properly before driving 200+ miles!

See you all there!
