TEXAS 8 STATE MEET

Thanks again to all of our organizers, leaders, and sponsors!!! We had a blast with everyone over the weekend and it was great meeting new rotor heads. The roads were amazing and I can’t wait for the next one.

Speaking of "Second Chance Prom Pics", here's a little write-up for everyone.

After dinner on Saturday night, some of us decided to head out to Stonehenge to get some dusk pictures of the 8's out at Stonehenge. Unfortunately, we took a little too long at dinner and wound up taking pictures at night out at stonehenge. Actually turned out really well!

Anyways, when we got back, a group of us decided to sit out on the patio area by our room and have a few drinks and just talk and tell some good stories. Cornholio, RowlettRX8er, myself, and Deadphoenix, WTBRotary, and AgCutie where all in rooms towards the back of the hotel complex next to the onsite convention center. Turns on, Saturday night, the convention center was hosting a local highschool prom.

Well, after a while sitting out there and watching some of these highschool kids go walking back and discussing how "if they were my kid, they would have never gotten out of the house wearing that", I decided I needed to document some of this. I went and grabbed my camera and decided I would take pictures of all the highschoolers leaving prom. Below are some of the photos and the background story for each picture.

This is a picture of two gals we saw when we stopped at Sonic on the way back from Stonehenge. Obviously, having 9 or 10 8's in the Sonic parking lot draws some attention. Cornholio dropped his wife off at the hotel before joining us, and when he got to Sonic, told us about how the prom had taken up all the parking spots. So of course we were bitching about the prom when two gals pulled up who were obviously dressed to go to prom. So we pointed at them while they were getting drinks - obviously to put alcohol in - and said hi and spoke to them for a few minutes. Actually pretty cool. Anyways, when we were sitting out on the patio area and I began taking pictures, they walked by and were like "Hey, aren't yall the RX8 people? We love that car!!" So I took the picture and they were pretty cool. Talked to them for a bit before the took off



This is a picture of the next group that walked out. As they were walking by, I yelled "Get ready! Time to take after prom pictures!" and took the picture. As soon as they walked by, the girl in the GINORMOUS black and white dress said "I can't believe he just did that!" We all had a good laugh about it.


The next two pics are of a couple that was "getting it on" on the playground close to where we were sitting. I never saw them walk out, but doesn't really matter. Someone said I need to take a picture of the couple sitting over on the playground making out. So what did I do, I turned the camera and took a picture. You can't see anything, but I made sure the flash was on so they could see that I was trying to take a picture. It obviously caught their attention because they soon were standing like 10 feet from each other. Then about 5 minutes later, they came walking up to the patio area to smoke. As they were walking up, I took the second picture. She wasn't happy with me at all cause she was shaking her head when I held the camera up and said "After Prom Pictures!" I'm pretty sure they ended up drunk and in bed with each other by the end of the night, but that's just a guess on my part.


There aren't any real good stories for the rest of them, but most of the kids were pretty cool with it. When I told them I was taking their picture, they posed and and had a good time with it. I had a good time with it giving the highschoolers crap and I think everyone at the table thought it was pretty funny. So, enjoy the rest of the pictures!

 

I'm starting to think I went to the wrong party Kyle :P

I have no idea how much Tom drank...but I'm pretty sure Brandon could have given him a run for his money! LOL!!

 

Tom was playing hi/lo by himself, and lost frequently.

 

Wow...that takes talent! Too bad we couldn't have put both of them together...cause Brandon deciding he wanted to partake in prom was pretty funny!

Draft 2 looks good. I like this photo too. Kyle what bulbs are you using in the fogs?

 

Not necessarily on draft 2, but I am kinda curious about your username now! If you search for "RileyCraven" on youtube, you get a "did you mean to search for Riley Raven the pornstar?"

I do like the second draft. I would suggest adding something towards the end about checking the website for information. I mean, we are trying to use it as a promotional tool.

 

Here's what I'm using for my lights.

Fogs:

Parking Lights:

The fogs take a little work because the reflector in the housing is too short to allow those bulbs. You have to pull the metal reflector out. Kind of a pain, but definitely worth it. Also, V-Leds is apparently working on a new H11 bulb for the fogs that has alot more light output and will work much better as a fog. The ones I have right now look fine during the day, but aren't real useful as fog lights.

 

Lol, yes I am aware of the **** star, but that has nothing to do with my name and I am not sure why that search doesnt show my name, I'm guessing because its so new and is not properly indexed yet.

I love the vids! I am sorry I could not make it, It looks like agreat time. When will the next one be?

 

I'm thinking about trying to have another in Oct. If not then, then sometime next year.

The only changes from the draft before were that I sightly speed up the last clip of turns and then added our website info at the end. If everyone is ok with it, I will start using this is our promo for the next meet until a better video is/can be made.

Seriously?! Those pics have been in there since at least draft 2! I'm not even in the video!!!!! I personally liked the picture, it shows our fun zainy side... really what is wrong with it?

Now I'm curious, what does Jordan think?

 

Zainy side? And to think, I thought this to be a better representation of that...
