Unhappy stoopid people with flooded cars.

You know, I am very careful with my RX8--husband jokes that he'll leave before it does. He may be right.

I came home from work after our students' Christmas program and parked in the driveway. He come home the next day with a load of hay for the barn, started my car, moved it, shut her down...and guess-you'll never guess-it won't start!

Fortunately, he is ten hours away at work...and I am here. The deflooding didn't work for me, and the nearest Mazda dealer is three hours away. Got any suggestions on this one?

Deaun

try the dechoke procedure again. ive heard people doing it for an hour (not continuously) and it finally did start up again. be sure to follow mazda's instructions (not some of the looser variations on this site).

and as far as the dealership being 3 hours away, thats not your problem (right now). mazda roadside will flatbed you as long as you are still under warranty. give em a call and see what they say. it couldnt be worse than a dead car in your driveway eh?

good luck and sorry to hear we have a new member to the flooded club!

Well, I called Mazda Roadside and they did send someone almost local to pick her up and carry her away... (they wanted to send my car to ( CALIFORNIA!! from Arkansas, can you say "no way?")

Now I'm having trouble getting anyone at the dealership to talk to me. Because I live in an extremely rural area, the service folk haven't seen too many RX8s and are not cognizant of our "little problem" with flooding.

Ah well, as soon as the buses pull out of the school parking lot tomorrow I'm going to drive over and get comfy in their waiting area...lol.

Thank you for the deflooding advice, by the way. Already tried, and ended up running the battery pretty far down so stopped. Guess I'll know not to block the barn anymore, huh?

Anyway, thanks for giving a gal a place to let off some of the steam--I love my car, even if it has "moments."

hey deaun, if i were you id bring in the TSBs (technical services bulletins) that go with the flooding so your dealership can see exactly what they are supposed to be doing.

you can view all of them here and print out the ones you need to take with you.

id also bring mazdas number with in case you need to talk to the big dogs to get your dealership to do the right thing. most warranty work is supposed to put you in a rental car, so dont be afraid to ask for one!

And be sure to spank your hubby for what he did. Oh, wait, that's not necessarily punishment, is it?

Oh, and does anyone know what this light on my dash means? It looks something like this:

TPMS light, tire pressure is low (or you have winter wheels on with no TPMS)
