Angry Dumb Calgary Dealer

So I had to take my car back to the dealer because after this last engine change I noticed that there was a small leak. You could also smell oil burning on the exhaust.

When I get to the dealer I tell them the problem and state that if you don't have to open anything up and only tighten something, please change the oil. I'd gone 500kms since the engine change so I thought what the hell.

Turns out it was a leaking gasket to the oil pan...they had to order the part from Toronto so my car had to stay there over night. Ask me if I was happy about that.

anyway......

I go to pick up the car and I see that there is a charge of $42 dollars for an oil change....excuse me?

You just had the oil pan off so you basicly had to change the oil anyway....no f*ck'n way I'm paying for an oil change.

(it gets better)

A service advisor who was higher in rank heard this and she suggested that I was right I shouldn't have to pay for the oil change....but I will have to pay for the oil filter and drain plug washer. (MUST....RESIST....URGE....TO CHOKE YOU)

I asked if she thought it was a good idea to nickel and dime someone who has had two engines changed in his $40,000 car. Did I get an answer?...sort off.

Instead of answering my question, she went into a lecture on how you don't need to change the oil for 6000kms because this car has a

R-O-T-O-R-Y engine......."it doesn't have pistons like other cars".

after I picked my jaw up off the floor I was about to educate her when it dawned on me that it wouldn't make a difference.

Meanwhile the other tech changed the charge to zero and rolled his eyes at what was happening.

Never a dull moment in a Mazda service department.

Even greater story when you realise there is no gasket on the oil pan!(It is possible they did not have the correct silicone sealant)

Let me guess.....sunridge?

I get my oil/filter changed at Mazda every 3000-5000km they sure don't seem to care when I pay for it...

Actually it was kramer....and to their defence my regular service guy (kevin) wasn;t there. He is excellent. I had some young kid that really doesn;t quite understand things.

I used to go to Sunridge and they are horrible over there. Kramer had been very good to me so far. I just happened to get the village idiot that day.

I knew it was Kramer right away :-)
They have been very good to me so far (so no real major complaints). I hear your pain, but sometimes stuff just happens.

I got my service survey email today from Kramer. I wasn't very nice. Within 3 hours the service guy who wrote up the order called me to apologize. Then tonight I got an email from the service manger to explain things.

The mark of a good business isn't if they screw up or not but how they go about fixing a mistake. Top marks to Kramer for this!!
