How dose the saddle gas tank work?

I understand the RX has a saddle bag type gas tank that is slit buy the drive shaft. How is fuel moved from one side to the other?

Looking at the parts breakdown, it looks like the fuel pump picks up fuel from both sides of the tank. See the attachment.

Do you have part names for this diagram, I'm finding myself guessing at some of the parts.

gas tank

do you have a diagram of the hoses for the tank an what they do? I added a surge tank, came off the driver side hoses, to my tank, now when it turns on fuel runs out of the top somewhere?

To run a surge tank you will need to do more than plumb it into the fuel line. The RX8 has a returnless type setup. The fuel line to the fuel rail is regulated in the tank on the fuel pump assembly. It uses the extra blowout fuel to power a venturi type suction that pulls fuel from the passenger side of the tank.

Why are you adding the surge tank? Having problems with pressure dropouts in corners?

that is a very good reply, i putting a 20 b in there and running a surge tank it leaks fuel, the stock pump i set it for 42 but when it goes into boost i need around 60. I might try another fuel pump in line an see if that will help. I regulate the pressure giong back at 40, then it switchs to 60 when i go into boost

You need a return system and therefore a regulator at the fuel rail. And for sure a lot more pump. After about 400hp you will run out of fuel with the stock setup even with careful driving. Anything twisty or fast and you won't even make it there. You need a largish surge tank and likely 2 pumps to get reliable fuel for even a low boost 3 rotor.

Remember 1 little knock from low fuel pressure will cost you a rotor at least. Overkill is better for fuel 😁
