RB vs MS springs
RB vs MS springs
I'm planning on getting a new set of springs (and shocks if the MS ones). I realize that with the MS springs I also want to get the shocks so my overall cost would be more. However, what I am interested in, besides the handling of course, is how the car will look after install. I really want a set that will lower the front of my car a little more than the back, to get more of a slight nose down appearance. Maybe something like 1" lower in front and 1/2" lower in back. Do both or either sets offer a greater drop in front? Does anyone have a side view pic of their car with either sets of these springs installed that they can post?
Thanks.
Thanks.
Here is my car with the MS suspension (shocks, springs, sway bars)
and 19x8.5 rims with 235 35 19

The MS springs do not lower a 'huge' amount.
Here is a pic before the MS suspension:

Here is a member with the Tien S springs:

Doesn't appear lower than mine.. but hard to tell..
The drop in person looks more than the pics show I think.
And.. the car looks much better now. IMHO
I would have liked it better if the front was lower, but that is all you get from the MS suspension.
The MS suspension rides a little harsh, but the performance with these tires is WELL worth it

Thanks.
No aftermarket spring "requires" shocks, but unless you want a bouncy ride that handles like crap... you will need shocks. I would suggest gettting the Koni Shocks.
I have the RB springs. The rear drop is about perfect (with 19" rims) you can stick about a fingers width between the rim & the fenderwell, but the front drop (both about .5") could be another 1". The RB springs are perfectly mated to the stock shocks. Honestly, I just can't see how a spring that drops a car more than this will function with the stock shocks, but that is just me. The people that have the Tein S Techs are very pleased with them.
I have full MS suspension. It wont drop your car that much, but thats probably a good thing if you are ever going to get a body kit, I wouldnt want my car any lower since I have the MS body kit. Check my sig.
I just put Racingbeat on mine I'll take some pics when I get home from work and post them (another 40min).
I did RB sway's at the same time, so I don't know how springs alone affect handling. I can say the car feels much better in a hard turn, and the every day ride doesn't feel any rougher.

Pictures kinda suck, but first one is a before, second one is an after. Would help more if I had found a place that had some damn sunlight. IM me if you need some more pics and I'll take my camera to work.

. None of the springs drop the car ALOT unless you go with SPRINT or H&R

Thanks to some helpful advice from members I ordered the Tein Basic Coilovers last week. They will allow me to get the height right where I want it but are not as adjustable, or as expensive as other coilovers. I was looking at the MS setup too as the price is almost identical. I wanted matched springs and shocks as well. I will not get them on for a few weeks though, so I cannot provide pics, or feedback yet. Just something else for you to consider, that said, I hear great things about both the MS and the RB so I do not think you can go wrong with either of them.
OK even though I really like the Racing Beat products as well as great customer service, after researching these forums I am leaning towards either:
MS springs and shocks
Tien Basic Coilovers
But I do have a few questions. I have heard the MS springs/shock combo rides rather harsh. Is this true? But also people say the Tein Basic Coilovers don't have a harsh ride yet the spring rate posted for them is much "stiffer" than even the MS springs so I am a bit confused at which set provides a softer ride. I do want performance increase in cornering, but I also don't want to make the ride too harsh. And with the Teins it seems I can adjust the height so that the front drop is greater.
Also if I were to try and install these myself, is there any difference in ease of installation between the Tein Basic coilovers and MS spring/shock combo? Finally, what is the best place to purchase the Teins?
Thanks again.
