Scandalous People @ SevenStock

Guys:
I really hate to say it, but this year we had some scandalous peeps at SevenStock....

First there were people who were being very uncooperative, even confrontational with our parking staff.... wth!

Then a young guy got his rotary oil cap stolen right off his ride during the raffle....

BIG PROPS TO MAZDATRIX (Dave Lemon) which replaced this young man's cap, no questions asked!

and another other thing with a digi-camera going missing; also ****'s me off .

I can't believe that Rotorheads would do this to each other... we do SevenStock to bring the Rotary community together, NOT divide it, and steal from each other!!!!

If anyone witnessed anything or even participated in some of this crap, please contact me and we'll talk... no need to "out" you or anything, just make things right!!

You see people... this is the kind of thing that makes us not want to ever do anything like this again!!!

Were those confrontational people allowed into SS7? :P

Hopefully it wasn't another fellow Rotarhead that stole the camera and oil cap... maybe it was just another car enthusiast looking for a quick score.

I was glad that some of the volunteers were stationed near other cars to answer questions and also watch out for potential thieves.

Unfortunately the confrontational were already in the parking, and we didn't want more drama than necessary! Don't know who took the camera... I hope it wasn't a fellow rotorhead. We did have many volunteers watching and keeping an eye-out, but we didn't see everything... apparently!

Yes, I had a gentlemen step up to the booth during the Raffle and describe his lost camera to me and I returned his camera (HP Digital) to him.

Good job, Andy! I didn't want to close the windows from the killer heat, but I had a gut feeling there were shady people around, the non-rotary-community kind. Especially in the almost empty lot during the courtyard race-car fire-ups. Last year Irvine PD walked the event consistently. This year was a couple innocuous rent-a-cops. Taping the drive-in, I overheard the ONE Irvine cop and ONE Police Explorer(!) say they needed more officers assigned, even though Adee and everyone did a heckuva job working with the two popos getting everyone in. Only saw one occurrence of an SA doing a couple donuts on Red Hill about 2:00pm, but many took it as a cue to leave, especially with all the equipment violations about, a la the RXtreme BBQ.

I believe things like those that tried to speed down Red Hill and those that was racing down at the Racing Beat event could have ruined it for everyone. What's the point for doing that when all it CAN do is cause an accident, or bring the police over and shut everything down?

I was speaking to my friend that owns an FD.. and he agrees with me that the people that actually owns a rotary car most likely wouldn't rip each other off. It would be awfully sad to see it happened though.

Another thing I was saddened, was to hear an RX-8 owner say that he didn't care to see the other rotaries since they weren't "cool." Seems like there are some elitist that feel a certain car is better than others... that is just plain sad. I've liked the FD, and the FC especially. But seeing the Cosmo and the RX-2s were great too... little cars with great potentials. Just because it's older, doesn't mean it's no good.

Too bad a few of those old school rotaries were most likely the fastest cars there by the race cars.

The Cosmo is one of the most beautiful cars ever made. There was a beautiful one at SS5 - white with white leather. That thing looked mint, too. I want to say it was a '74...is that possible?

not sure what you are reffering too but...............

There where two Cosmo's there.

A L10B version from 68-72
A JC version from 90-95

Bern, it was apleasure to meet you & geta taste of the American way of doig things. Although the way you guys call a 92 built FD a 93-model had us Aussie scratching our heads working out the logic for that one.

Didn't spot any losers doign anything wrong & have to tell you guys, that by Aussie standards. This rotary show was very VERY well behaved.
