DIY cold air intake. Made this a while back from a few bits and pieces. Pretty cheap to build , makes a loud induction noise and very effective at keeping intake temps down !
Build list :
Filter K&N RU 1785 (not same as pictured as that is just what I had laying around)
1x 3.5" Maf honeycomb straightener (recommended but not essential)
may need more 3.5" pipe and another coupler as don't think the Treadstone maf tube is as long as mine by the look.
*Ensure the 90 bend pipe is perfectly aligned with the maf tube to avoid tuning issues!
**Also : tube of silicone to form a bead above filter on steel reinforcement above so that water wont drip into filter!
*** I have found the fuel trims have stayed very low and the tune has not been affected much but as a tuner ...of course I have tuned it! As with ALL aftermarket intakes I recommend a tune after fitting or at the very least check AFRs via an obd scanner!
This is what I used for a filter (it's a bit smaller) but fit nicely RU-3130-L
Your link to the maf tube and honeycomb air straightener returned a 404 (try this one: Denso Maf Tube with Honeycomb air straightener) for me but I happen to have one those installed which gives a perfect idle ... so smooth. (TeamRX8 pointed me to this awhile ago. Thanks Team)
EDIT EDIT: OH OH ONE MORE THANG! I recently had spent quite a bit of time digging through Treadstone's online store and adding items to my cart. (500 cdn or so)
When I went to check out they wouldn't ship to Canada. Which I can't explain as I have quite a few pieces from Treadstone.
I even tried contacting them and had no reply.
So there's that, I've since been sourcing my material for other places.
Yes on my turbo setup. That maf tube and straightener made a really big difference.
Correct I currently have a silicone couple to make the bend which is not as pretty by any stretch of the imagination but provides some flexibility.
But I like what you have here so come winter (sigh which is coming soon) I will try and make it all pretty.
And I found a guy just around the corner who does aluminum welding, so hopefully I can do a few more beautification mods.
Yeah , the maf straightener makes a huge difference if there is anything to cause turbulence remotely close to the sensor .EG , a bend , a join, a change in diameter , any misalignment , a turbo etc. With the setup above ...I didn't need one because I made sure the join is perfectly aligned and there is such a long straight section before the maf .
The Treadstone MAF housing is definitely shorter and needs another piece of pipe, which kinda stinks. Not a huge deal, but it would have been nicer for straighter airflow to have a longer MAF housing. I used a straightener and it's been fine. Idles smooth and pulls strongly. Obviously it needs a MAF rescale vs the stock housing...

True for your application. Though by integrating it into a shorter section Treadstone knew that they gain use, and therefore increase sales, for turbo / SC applications, which likely require a shorter section.
stop trying to reinvent the wheel already. You buy a piece of 3.5” OD aluminum tube, the weld on MAF sensor adaptor, size & cut the tube length, position the MAF sensor, hole saw the hole, and have it welded on. You can put straighteners in the ends, but I never ran any and had zero issues.
