I just want to replace the leather part on the bottom part of the driver's seat. I think the mazda oem part number is FE0288161A02.

How in the world can it cost between $680 ~ $1000? And it doesn't seem like anyone else made an aftermarket "oem-ish" alternative for, oh I don't know.. $50?

I guess I don't understand the economics of this one. Am I the only one who messed up his seat and wants to fix it?

I'll admit I don't know the first thing about upholstery, in cars, couches, or anywhere else. Guess I need to get a sewing machine...

Anyone else been through this?

Wow really. I paid 1000 ti get my interior upgraded when i bought the car. Ive been thinking about doing the same but that is crazy

 

Buying parts for your car from a dealer is always ridiculous. Take the amount of money you paid for the whole car assembled.... but instead buy all the parts piece by piece from your local dealer to build it yourself. You'd get 1/4 of the way done before you're out of money.....and you had to do all the work!

look on searchtempest to scope out craigslist nationwide or ebay there are seat cover sets for under 200 bucks.

 

I ended up buying some vinyl at a fabric store, taking the seat apart, and sewing-in a replacement for the ripped panel. So far, so good...

 

Just wondering where one could get standard leather seats so I can use the seat heater with out breaking my wallet any one know of any good sites or stores?

 

Local junkyard? Don't think you want to buy these new at those prices :P
