TN Replacing Stock Audio Head Unit with Pioneer

I have a Pioneer Bluetooth Satellite Radio that I took out of my old car before selling it and thought I could install it in my 2010 RX8 Sport (not Bose).

From what I have read that is not as straight forward as I thought. The Radio is a 1-din Pioneer DEH-6200BT. No DVD or Video function or any thing like that.

What would I lose on the dash text display if I just replace the Mazda head Unit with a Pioneer radio? I am not that worried about losing the center display but I'd really like to keep the Clock and the A/C and Outside Temp info if I could.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Andy

You need to retain the stock headunit to set the clock. Also you must have the correct stereo harness to use the stock HU to set the clock. If the clock is not set the thermometer does not work properly either. Once clock is set only think that doesn't work is the center (stereo) stiff.

Assuming you don't have a https://www.rx8club.com/series-ii-interior-audio-electronics-167/rxduino-development-chat-218257/. I don;t think he's making any more.

I wonder if pulling the battery at midnight would solve setting the clock...lol
When the times change, you can pull it again to set it back to 12 right?

no you cannot. removing the radio and disconnecting the battery would make the clock disappear and moves the temp all the way to the left hand side. Downfall is that the temp will not read more than 70F. I will be making more RxD's in the future, but you can also do this to hold you over:
