Im currently having issues with my 04 AT rx8 whenever i drive it It'll operate fine for 15-20 min. Then i'll hear a whining noise as i drive then i get no functionality from the tranny no reverse no going forward or anything. But if i let it sit for about 20 min the car will crank up and drive around again no problem for about the same amount of time before it gives out again.

 

How many miles are on the car and when was the last time you had the tranny fluid changed? Also have you checked the tranny dipstick to see if the fluid is low?

 

140k miles on the car fluid change last time i had it turned up i'd say about 2k miles ago

 

Vehicle does not move in D range, or in R position

DESCRIPTION
• Vehicle does not move when accelerator pedal is depressed.
POSSIBLE CAUSE
• Clutch slippage (low clutch, low one-way clutch, low and reverse brake).
– In the event of clutch slippage, a DTC (incorrect gear ratio) is output.
• Insufficient or improper ATF
• Reduced line pressure
• Control valve body malfunction (improper operation, stuck, clogged oil passage)
• Insufficient torque
• Torque converter malfunction (improper operation, stuck), insufficient engine output
• Improper operation of parking device
