Ok well.. Got my rx8 back with a rebuild from Tito of Alamo Rotary... Im about to order Cobbs AP as I start on my turbo build. Well lets just say I dont even want to get FI if my limiter is set at 125MPH.. I have a 6port 6speed a/t. I dont plan on going over 125MPH very often, but if I have power under the hood, I want to be able to use it if I feel like it...

does anyone here have a 6port a/t going over 125?? if so, HELP ME!!!!

who can tune cobbs to make it happen??

or what about Pettits reflasher?

 

1. pettit reflasher is for Superchrged cars
2. Mazdamaniac has tuned more RX-8's using the AP then anyone else
3. where do you live? As far as I know, the US models aren't capped at 125mph
4. turbo build? which turbo are you going with?
please don't take this the wrong way but seeing your questions here makes me think you haven't done a lot of turbo research.
there are options out there, just need to take the time to learn about them and find the one that fits your needs.

 

1. the pettit reflasher can be used for N/A. Matter fact theres someone on this forum that has it on his 6port a/t.. He had his rpms raised to 9k. Its very similar to AP

2/3. I live in the US. Mazdamaniac told me he's never ran into a car with a speed limiter in North America. But i personally have friends that are limited at 125 in the a/t. Also Tito from Alamo Rotary told be that Cobbs could remove it... so now im baffled

4. The greddy kit with an upgraded turbo. Pettit is going to modify my turbo with a larger compressor.

there is no speed limiter... it's all a matter of physics...

as far as im concerned the ATs have a speed limiter, i know none of the MTs here in america have speed limiters...^and yes physics does account for the 149MPH top out

 

ok let me reiterate that... FUEL CUT @ 125. My car will happily climb to 125 with power to spare.... then zoooommmmmmm....

What RPM is it at in 6th when that happens?

 

3rd gear on an MT is at 90mph at redline

 

i cant remember off top but i think its 5th gear @ about 5800 -6000 rpm.. i cant fully remember

 

trade it for a smart car!

lol.... heck nahhh.. Ill prolly get a used 2005 or 2006 GTO...a 350z or something.. I just talked to one of the guys from PTP... He said HKS makes a tool to remove the fuel cut. He said it works on a/t rx8's. They're going to make some phone calls tomorow for me.

 

The AT HAS a speed limiter and neither the AP nor the Pettite reflasher can eliminate this.
Trade the car in and get a Manual. That's the only way I know.

Now some of the early 2004 4 speed AT's did not have a limiter. Phils8 is one of them. But that's the only one I know of off the top of my head.

I wouldn't mind getting out of third gear myself.

 

yeh and it sucks because I really really love this damn car. I was tellin my girlfriend the other day, If I had a BMW M3 i'd still be jealous to see rx-8's roam the streets. But since I didnt buy a manual the 1st time, im not going to buy another rx8
