The manual transmission cars don't have a speed limiter (in the US).

I set the A/T limiter to 300 MPH. lol
That is as high as it can be set, that way ti won't interfere.

if anyone can hit 300 mph in an 8 without getting pulled over or an accident, then you just became my hero.

Absolutely. I can set the rev limit to 10,000 if you like as well.

However, surpassing 124 will depend on whether your car had enough power to do so (and is slippery enough).
There are plenty of soft-engined RX-8s out there that can't.

125mph is still better. Our JDM cars are limited to 112.5 (180kph).

Depends on what gear you are in.
Top gear is only limited to 311 kph.
4th is limited to 131 kph!

I think you are pretty lucky to hit 125 in an AT....the thing struggles enough just hitting 100.

Well mine is a 4speed a/t. So it maxes out in the 4th gear at 180.

Ha! My 07 6spd auto hit it easily after I broke it in nicely, but after I felt the jerk at 125, I just went to 123-124 a few more times.

When nearing topend it eases up there, and feels light like the spoilers aren't holding it down.

I've driven a Vette the first time in one right up to 162, and it felt planted even with 20 mph side wind, but you guys talking about 130-150 in your MT is not for me.

100-120 on open road is plenty excitement for me.

I'm one of the many that can vouch that the AccessPort can remove your speed limiter and change the rev limiter. I run a 2006 6-port auto as well.

The AccessPORT can fix that, BTW.
I noticed the years listed there start at 2006, so would a 2005 model still be limited to 125 with the AP?

Most US 2004-2005 4ATs have the limiter. The professional version of the AP Tuner software (not the one we get for free) can effectively remove it.

ok I know this thread is probably dead but I have an 04 At without mods and i was able to hit the 140 mph it took me forever to hit the speed but i did. the only thing i have noticed about the limiter is the DSC switch. i think 124 was the limit with the switch left alone but if you pressed it you are able to go a little higher. Now if you disable it by doing the 10sec hold then thats when you have no limiter if im correct in saying. that is how i have gotten my 8 past 124mph

Trade the car in and get a Manual. That's the only way I know.

Now some of the early 2004 4 speed AT's did not have a limiter. Phils8 is one of them. But that's the only one I know of off the top of my head.

i have a 04 auto will test this weekend (to many cars on road during week) i know this is an old thread but im curious as well. will repost results

don't know if this helps this thread, but i have an 07 6speed AT, and my personal record so far is 120 mph, i was in 5th gear at this speed and my rpm was right at 6.8k, i could have gone faster if i had more road, also had another gear to spare, seems to me from reading this thread that someone will have to break 130 in an AT to know for sure if there is a speed limiter.

I have the same model, and it hits hard at 125, so I only tried a couple times.

I even geared down 3.3% with 225/40r18 tires, so my new top end is 120, but it pulls hills or accelerates a little faster.

Your statement said it loses acceleration after 120 which I agree, so anything over 110 to me is useless anyway.

I've had mine over 145 on a dyno on more than one occasion. However you need an AP and MM provided map or a 3rd party ECU.

Speed limiter info is well known in "tuning" circles.
