Underdrive Pulley do or do not?????

So i've been reading up a lot on the under drive pulleys and i want to know if these are a worth while investment. Do i need to buy the kit with all 3 to get the best performance? Will this help me when starting from a dead stop? I just want my car to get to that 4000 rpm mark a little quicker so the power kicks in. Will these pulleys help my revs get up a little faster?

Don't do it unless you get them for free. A local guy here has pullies, MSP catback, MSP flywheel, aftermarket clutch and an MSP intake and he is few tenths slower in the quarter then me still even after tons of practice.

They make your car lighter. There about a .5 pound difference I believe from the AP underdriven crank to Stock

I mean I got an AP underdriven crank pulley sitting in my room, I'll prob but it on just because.

Your butt dyno will prob claim like 5hp

Yeah for weight savings I guess (not that .5 lbs will do anything but less parasitic drag is good) but if you do all the pullies make sure you don't have issues with your ac, alternator, etc. but for the money its as big as waste as a $300.00 intake.

I have one, and can't really say I recommend it. It revs faster, but that appears it. I dont really feel anything on the butt dyno.

I love my Voodoo but it's getting weird spider cracks in it. I still think driving lessons are the best bang for the buck. If I had a dollar for every time I saw a Miata whoop a Viper or some other badass street car I would be rich.

If you're looking for "noticeable" (not audible) mods; the AccessPort, mid-pipe/high-flow cat, short shifter, lighter flywheel are your best choices.

On the other side; better tires, suspension, and driving lessons.

Fail. AT's don't have flywheels. Return that thing immediately or sell it !

I think he means 4AT, not the ports.

I did quite alot of searching when l was looking to buy the pulleys. I found that more people were disappointed then not, but l guess everyones butt dyno is different .

Well, on a different note, just wanted to get some opinions on which intake i should get.

  1. AEM cold air intake
  2. K and N typhoon 2
  3. Racing Beat

Just looking for some input.

I want an intake that will give me the most possible HP, and of course sounds good. And yes i know ill be getting like 3 HP

A dumb question I've allways wondered, if you supercharge or turbo the 8, does the pulleys need to come off and use pulleys out of the particular supercharger or turbo kit, or can they remain on?

/\ I took my AP underdrive pulley off after going turbo because I have reduced the redline and wanted maximum water flow at lower engine speeds . For SC I believe the correct pulley would come with the kit.

Well here is an idea no one posted yet.
Replace the water pump with the Mazparts Re-medey pump. The Stock pump cavitates 4k + and cavitation induces drag. See where I'm going here? plus added benefit of more coolant flow.

I had mine for several years.
Can't say I noticed a difference with the AP pulley.

I would like to get everything I can out of the car.. but we did a test with a thermoeter.

Stock AC is 2 to 4 degrees cooler without the under drive pully.

Not worth the 1HP gain for me.
