Cooling Mod Goal

Hey I just wondering what will be a good step to get a cooling mod, I was thinking first thing i should do is get Cooling fan control kit from Mazport, because its only 100 bucks, but if i am getting a better radiator, vented hood and oil cooler. do you guys suggest i still get that cooling kit. If not what should i start first?
Thanks

Where are you from?

I have a local guy that we added the 2nd OE oil cooler, used, for ~$100.

I was able to get a used OE setup off an MT car. It's a dirt simple install onto an AT car.

passanger side oil cooler + mounting bracket
lines that go back and forth from the driver side cooler back to the motor with retaining clips
couple of the banjo bolts to hold the lines into the cooler. these really should come with the lines.

very good advice mac gives you.. i just replaced an oil cooler..

a couple of people are parting out cars in the for sale section, i would contact them and see if they have what you need.. also mazdamart who is a vendor here can help you.. i would think that you could pick up the cooler and hoses for less than 200 bucks.

as to radiators, the bhr is one very good choice, the other is done by mazmart.

i put in the bhr one 2 weeks ago.. good stuff. but putting it in sucks!!!!

beers

Thanks Mac11,
I will start looking for the oil cooler, find a local shop and get it install.

I'm the one Mac is talking about. I've noticed the oil temps running ten to 20 degrees cooler in daily driving. Haven't had it back to the track yet to check that out.

There is a tranny cooler built into your OEM radiator. I have seen no evidence to suggest it needs upgrading to this point for street or up to medium track use. I have been monitoring temps.

The BHR rad has an upgraded tranny cooler built into it; I am pretty sure.

With my cooling mods in my sig, my oil and ATF temps don't get over 180 in daily driving. Should also say I switched to a 60% water/40% coolant mix. My water temps never get over the 197 degrees where the mazsport fan mod kicks in. I haven't been back to the track yet to check out the full combo.

I should also say that I would be more concerned about oil cooling. On the track, my oil temps were always higher than my water temps (before adding the oil cooler). Haven't been back to the track yet to see if this is different. I'm guessing they will be close to the same.

Cool, I will start with the oil cooler first, since its cheaper than the BHR radiator and more efficient. what do you think the mazsport cooling fan control kit?
