So I got a bottle of detailing spray with my zaino order. It says that between car washes i can apply the stuff and wipe it down to remove dust from the car.

The problem is, after 2 days time, THIS is what is on my paint. You could write your name in the stuff, and after a week or 2 it's really nasty.


I tried doing a small section and immediately was able to see scratches. No good.

How do i remove this crap without washing my car every other day?

 

I use a California Duster to remove dust and pollen. It works well for me and leaves not scratches. Just lightly go over the car with the California Duster and you'll be happy.

 

user error.
CA duster is your friend. Some will say that it scratches your car but the reality is EVERYTIME you touch your paint, you are scratching it to some extent. Brush very lightly with the CA duster and you should be fine. (just make sure you have some polish on there)

You're supposed to let them air out on a paper towel a few days before using them right?

I use the Zaino detailer as a lube for clay bar. Never tried to spray the whole car with it. I use CA duster also. I keep 2 sizes in my trunk.

I think I'm only using the detailing spray now right after I've washed it. It DOES help with the shine and gloss, but it's clearly no good for removing dust.

 

Sounds like a bunch of manufacturor BS to make people use the detailer more often, and thus, run out faster and RE-ORDER.

IMO the detailer sprays are only needed immediatly after washing if there is good wax on the car, or to get rid of bird poop, splashes of water, finger prints, etc, between washes........not dust.

use a mild clear coat polish to polish out the scratches. if u have an orbital, use low/ medium speed. sonus paintwork cleanser is a good starting point. of course, u'll need to wash and make sure the area's clean first.

 

i would never rub down my paint unless the car was first washed.

as for the california duster, i have the huge one and it works like a charm so far. just make sure not to use it when theres alot of crap on your car. just pollen/dust

 

No one really answered the OP's problem..

Not to sound like I'm reading off the bottle, Z6 is pretty concentrated.. use it on a damp (with water) microfiber towel.. then use a dry, clean microfiber to buff of the Z6. You'll only have a window of opportunity of about 10 seconds before the thing dries a bit and it becomes an effort to buff it off. You should Z6 a small section, buff off, then move to the next section.

When my paint has surface dust, I use the (OXO) car duster first, then do the Z6. Then go for the glass cleaner (Invisible Glass). The whole routine takes about 30 minutes. Patience is very important.

 

Good info! thanks for the tips! The instructions that came with the kit were vague on how Z6 is supposed to be used. I was under the impression you sprayed down a square foot of the paint itself, then wiped clean with a dry microfiber. Next time I wash I will try it your way.

PS: to the guy suggesting i use a motorized buffer. The scratches aren't that bad. just those little microscratches that would easily vanish with another coat of zaino. My question is more about how to keep away from needing a motorized buffer in the first place

 

what I do is take the zaino gloss spray, and dilute it 50% with distilled water. It works just as nice, and this method is also recommended by zaino.

I then pour it into a spray bottle I bought from Sams Club that has a fine mist spray. The gloss spray goes a long long way with this setup.

I've said I've never used Zaino, so what am I missing?

As far as the manufacturor recommending their product for that use, according to Socket, considering there is a simpler (and safer) alternative.........sounds like the manufacturor wants their product used more frequently, and that translates to faster re-orders.

And most "between wax, between wash" detailer sprays are just that, detailers you can use to enhance the wax after a wash, give it a little more luster. Or if a bird poops on the car, or whatever, it is a nice touch up.
At least that is how other brands detailer sprays work, like Meguiars.

Like I said, I have not used Zaino, but I am leaning towards trying it.

Where am I wrong? What else is there to think about?
It would be wonderfull if someone could give maybe a little more than a 6 word response.

 

Update: CA duster works wonders. Cleans off pollen and dust like it's nothing. No scratches either.
