Odd Electrical Problem -- won't start
Odd Electrical Problem -- won't start
My '04 AT has been garaged this winter, and not surprisingly, it wouldn't start today and appeared to have a dead battery. However, it wouldn't jump with the battery connected, so I bought a replacement battery and tried it out. The starter still won't turn, though there's a little bit of activity under the hood.
The following components work just fine:
- wipers
- headlights
- instrument cluster
- taillights
The following are completely dead:
- starter/ignition
- power windows / locks
- audio system
Can anyone point me to a fuse that might be blown, or some kind of explanation for why a random smattering of devices work perfectly?
Thanks for any insight you guys can offer!

Yeah, none of the fuses either in the cabin or under the hood (at least the translucent ones) appear to be blown, and there doesn't seem to be an obvious subsystem that would tie the non-functioning things together if it were one of the bigger ones... unless I'm missing something?
Trunk light is a real clue - those systems AND the trunk light (room fuse) are all powered from the 30 Amp fuse, marked BTN and it's the third one from the top left in the front fusebox.
Pull it and check it....

Stealth,
Thanks for the response. The BTN fuse looks ok, and I swapped in a different one to see if it had any effect, just to be safe, and I got the same result. Any other ideas?
Thanks.
