Getting a new oil pan

Anyone else put in a call about the oil pan problem yet?
I was just talking to my dealership and the new pan is in.
So my baby goes under the knife tomorrow.
Hmm I wonder if I can get the day off tomorrow to go watch?

Can you clarify whether this is an offer on all delivered RX8's?
Is there a ref. note to dealers from Mazda Ca.?

Mazda Can. hasn't put out a bulletin, as far as I know.
I called the dealer after having the light come on and off during highway driving (on around 132 km/h, off below 125). I'd read about the problem from the forum, so wasn't overly concerned. I checked the oil, it was just below half.
Anyway, the dealer hadn't heard anything, but called the tech guys at Mazda Can and had a part ordered immediately.
My understanding is, only the first so many cars have the problem oil pans, so depending on your VIN and build date, you may or may not need it. The easiest check would be to wait until the oil gets down a little bit, then go take a run on the highway.

My oil light came on a few times around 2500 km, on the highway. I checked the oil, and put in 1/2 litre.

Now at 5000 km it has come on again (only once)

The dealer said he is aware of the problem, Mazda will be replacing the oilpans, but I'm not sure of the criteria.
