Question Cylinder 2 Misfire???

Ok. Monday i put on new plug wires. i was under the car pulling the wires from the plugs and my friend was pulling the wires from the coils. the first time i cranked the car it was fine, and when i ran it to test the underdriven pulley i just installed, it threw a cel at wot in first gear. i was quite confused and went back to the shop to check it. next morning ran a diagnostic and it said cylinder 1 misfire. found out i had a loose plug wire on the plug. it was fine and then it started throwing a cyl. 2 misfire. i checked them again and they were all fine. i thought it was a bad set of wires so i put my stock ones on again today and it's still throwing the code. cyl. 2 misfire. i guess this means it's a bad coil? anyway, i just wanted outside opinions on that and to make sure that the cylinder 2 coil would be the second from the left? . * . .

my guess is that the code (cylinder 2 misfire) just refers to the second spark plug. mabe it compares the four plugs to a four cylinder?

Cylinder 2 is rear rotor.... resent the ECU ( battery disconnect) and reset the eccentric shaft sensor ( brake taps ) should be OK after that

I have the same problem..after installing the AP pulley I had a random misfire then a 2cy misfire..I changed my plugs and the ofcourse since i had to discon the battery it went away I test drove it the cel blinked and i noticed a slight loss of power at about 8500 rpm, but it then the power kicked in and kept going shifted and kept going cel still blinking. next day i ran her hard all the way 9k rpm thru all the gears, no blinking cel?? I was confused she runs good cel blinks some times still getting same 2cyn misfire code..i'm stuck I'm changing the wires tomorrow see if anything happens..if it still blinks i'll do the coils..

Well, just tried this. The CEL comes on and off and flashes frequently. I guess it must the PCM trying to adjust the fuel maps after disconnecting the battery. Drove it for 3 miles and the light persisted. It'll drive it more later today and report back. Hopefully with good news.. (knocking on wood)

If it doesn't work right away...it won't...there is something going on...I would check your coils. Or you have a bad plug.....

Ok, now i'm completely and totally confused...i've had the flashing and solid cel for a couple of weeks now and i've cleared codes trying that, reset the computer with the battery disconnect, tapped the brakes for the sensor, and changed the plugs thinking that would work. at first it was a P0302 code, which is a cylinder two misfire. I could have sworn it was because of the AP pulley. Now it has changed to a P0301 code which is the cylinder one misfire. the only thing left to check is my coils i guess. Any ideas or suggestions??????

Have you had the eccentric shaft position sensor and timing checked out? That's a possibility, but you will likely have to get the dealer using the WDS (or the equivalent diagnostics system) to verify the timing. Your underdriven pulley or your installation activity could be related to the problem.

I just had this happen to me too! i was driving rather spiritedly.

and my CEL popped up, so i stoppeed over at Autozone and ran a OBDII and it said P0302 cylinder 2 misfire as well.

i had him clear out the code and so far nothing has happend yet.. i guess i may have to change out my spark plugs.

Put your OEM wires back on, and the CEL won't come on again. This happened to me with my MSD wires.

Although, I do plan on replacing my coils and trying the MSDs again, but I may just buy some Ultra wires.

Are you only seeing it at high RPM? I typically see it if I am running it hard and at 8K+ rpm. I suspect it would be coil related.

I have the same problem on the trac yesterday!!!
PO302......after 12 minute of lapping the motor give me only 4-5000rpm to play with for about 30 second...after a 2 minute cool down on the track it was OK...but for only 1 lap that is 1:10 second long....dealer already changed my plug 2 week ago for the same problem...so it is not the plug the problem I guess!!!....
Buy the way Falken Azenis work great on the track..:O)
Soooo what is the problem..:O(
and is it normal that we have some fire flamme out from the exaust!! i scared some people on the trac...lol
