I bought this RX8 last year as a fun summer driver and it hasn't disappointed. The only reason for selling is that my job has changed, and I no longer get to drive this car (working from home now). I don't want to see it sit, so I am posting it for sale so someone else can enjoy it.
Features- All leather interior, power sliding moonroof, AC, Heat, Heated Front Seats, Six Speed Manual Transmission with cruise control
Pros
-I changed all the critical stuff before I even drove it- Within the last 2,200 miles(thats how many miles I have driven it) the following have been replaced- All Spark plugs(NGK), coils, plug wires; Starter (changed it to the newer style starter that spins faster, found on newer RX8s); Oil, oil filter, air filter, cabin air filter.
- No Check Engine Light, no known mechanical issues. All features work as they should- AC (never use it though), Heat, Cruise, etc. Anything this car has, works as it should.
- Very little rust. Seems to be the exception in Wisconsin
-All Technical Service Bulletins completed in the last three years- Controls arms, etc.
-Starts and runs every time, cold start, hot start, etc.
-Idles rock solid at 750RPM when warm
-New tail light seals (common for these to leak and have condensation in tail lights)
Cons-
-A couple of small dings- One door ding on the right rear door, and one pea-sized ding on the front left fender. This isn't a mint condition car, but definitely a nice survivor.
-Compression test not done- unknown compression numbers (critical to these motors), but if the compression were poor, the car wouldn't start warmed up (which it does without issue)
-Battery should probably be replaced within the next year. I don't recall the date stamp, but when I started the car in the winter(stored in my garage), it was a little sluggish to turn over when it was very cold.
-Small rust spot above right rear wheel well. Shouldn't spread if you aren't winter driving it.
-Sunglass holder above the rearview mirror doesn't like to stay closed on it's own. I added a small piece of velcro to keep it from dropping down.
-Mileage unknown on motor (maybe)- These motors were notorious for compression issues, so much so that Mazda was replacing them from the factory under an extended warranty. I have never called the dealership to see if the motor was replaced on this one, the reason being that it doesn't show any of the typical signs of compression issues. There are many of these RX8s out there with higher mileage that run just fine, because people take care of them properly.
I am sure some of this stuff seems nitpicky, and I am probably missing some stuff, but I am not a fan of selling cars, and just try to be as honest as possible. If you need more pictures of something specific, or have more questions, please let me know.
Bottom line is that this is a very fun car to drive, and it has room for four people to hug corners with you as you cruise around winding roads.
