RX-k8>

There's a lot of "karting" being done today, but it seems like the RX8 is not on the popular cool kid list for this. I honestly don't see why. They are cheap now, have an excellent chassis, and are all together a very good package. Like Colin Chapman said "Simplify and add lightness" and look at the amazing cars to come from his brand.

I tried to sell my RX8, and nobody wanted to pay anywhere near what I think it's worth. It is a fully functional and reliable car with 94k on the original motor. Everyone is scared of the motor being ready to blow, so I only received offers like it was already on low compression.

Screw all those people! I have better plans! Time to kart the thing. I build race cars and roll cages for a living on top of being a driving instructor, so I have a very good platform how to pull off such a task and not have it suck. What do the folks here think of such a build? I have found one other RX8 that has been karted. I'm personally not a fan of it, but I'm not hating. Everything else seems to be mostly miatas and corvettes. Of course there's the famous Roadkill C4 and Leeroy the savage C5. If you don't know what either of those two are, grab a beer and go to yourtube.

May I ask that a mod move this over to the general or whatever appropriate section for this would be? Thank you in advance

I think it would be awesome to see an 8 turned into a kart.
would you keep the same motor?

Yeah. A large part of what makes an RX8 a RX8 is its weight balance of such a small power plant mounted in a fairly central location. I wouldn't want to ruin one of the best qualities of the car.

If I’m being honest, it has been in its current state for almost a year. The suspension will get appropriate spring rates and ride heights this week. I’ll actually get around to finishing the door bars and building a 4 point cage for it. Bash bars to be road legal and also Mashable at drift events will be added. Lights will get mounted to said bash bars and the car will be registered again. All this in less than a week hopefully. For the rest of tonight, I have a completely disassembled ej25 to put back together. Work , work and hardly any time to play with my own stuff.

It won't be much different than the concept of a Manx Meyers buggy. They are legal in most states I believe. Check all the boxes for required DOT items and press on. Lights are going back on the car and tiny side mirrors. A magnaflow will keep noise down around 93db most of the time. There's still a windshield and wipers in there. Florida will register just about anything however.
