Not sure if they change . Mine gave out and I when I replaced it I noticed the reported afrs differed from the previous sensor by a bit less than 1/2 a point (I also have an AFR guage so could see the diference) . My fuel comsumption improved immeadiately after fitting the new sensor.

Air filter is a K&N drop-in, recently clean (same filter as last year). MAF is a possibility, I'll check it (I normally don't over-oil the K&N, but you never know).

Brettus, which sensor died on you, and what were the symptoms?

the front one .
AFRs were all over the place in closed loop and when doing a log it would run ok till it warmed up then just flatline at 14.7 .

The O2 sensor only affects closed loop operation. I seriously hope you weren't in closed loop on the Dyno.

now these numbers, along with several others, are disappointing.

All of my mods are.....borla exhaust, rp supercat, sr pulleys, act prolite flywheel, act 6 puck race disk, and cobb accessport w/ mazdamaniac tunes.

I cant find my charts right now, but I know my best pull with was only 166rwhp and the the torque was really low. I cant quite remember what it was, but i feel that for all of the money i have spent trying to improve the car...166 is pretty low. Does anybody else agree with me? Or are my expectations just too high?

What did it dyno before the mods on that same dyno? Do you know how much you gained?

no, i dont know. I dont even know of any dyno's within a few hours of my house here in iowa. I got a chance to do a dyno when I was in Alabama, and I cant find my charts anywhere that would tell me the info on the dyno.

I unfortunately dont have too much info on the dyno, but I would still think it should be higher than that.

Here's my printout from the East Coast MM dyno day back in August

Mods:
-Borla catback
-Racing Beat Dual Res midpipe
-Cobb AP w/ MM tunes
-K&N panel filter
-Racing Beat ram air duct

I was very pleased with the results. A BHR ignition kit should put my car at the 200whp mark!

Here is mine from the last NorCal dyno day in August.

Mods are just a RB intake / duct, BHR ignition and Cobb AP with MM tune.

Maybe but without a baseline you don't know if it's the dyno or your car. Different dynos read differently and depending on the load setting you can get different results. You need to perform a vacuum check or compression check to determine if your engine is strong or not. Dynos are just comparative tools for measuring changes and tuning, not for absolute numbers.

Also without a chart we have no idea if the engine looks healthy or not. If you can post up a chart we can tell you if thinks look okay or if something looks wrong.

Had some fun today - got a dyno run. It is cold up here, but before winter I wanted to try my RB V2 software and straight midpipe. So, I put in new coils and RB Plug wires, synthetic oil, K&N drop in and got two runs for $50. These were run in 4th gear.

I am new to dynos - is this adjusted for the low temp and not "smoothed" too much? The first run he only went to 7k. I had reset my long term fuel trim before this. The LTFT did build up before the second run, but it doesn't appear to have hurt anything.

The car is a 2005 mt with 34,000 miles.

Is the BHR Ignition kit tunable?? I have a microtech that I am waiting to get back from KD Rotary and I have yet to tune my car but I am curious if you can adjust the ignition kit with the Microtech LT-10 (Interceptor X).

That isn't how ignition systems work.
You adjust the EMS to operate the ignition system, not the other way around.

Got my car dyno'd stock to see how it compares with the RB and straight midpipe. I saw how to turn the image horizontal this time too!

What happened with the AFR on a couple of the runs?

I suspect your weight is too heavy. (Unless you weigh 800lbs.)

Also you're going to have a hard time estimating horsepower based on 1/8 mile runs. The launch and shifting speeds will introduce variables that will lower your calculated values.

You should try setting it up to just record a full throttle run from a low RPM to redline in 2nd or 3rd gear.

2007 rx8 6-speed just hks legamax cat-back, other than that totally stock. original spark plugs and coils. 1000 ft elevation, 57 degrees, 91 octane, dynapack chassis dyno. best of 3 pulls. AFR steady around 12.5. Did this for a baseline before the Esmeril Racing Turbo kit gets here.

Base I was at 205 whp 143 tq.

Sorry for the **** quality, don't mind the torque. The first 4 runs were picking up around 147tq at 207 whp.

Best we figured it it was 150 tq at 218 whp airflow at 240.

Mods...

D585 ignition system assembled by me wires purchased form rotaryfan 1991 fixed by BHR (Thanks Ray)
RP super cat with a blown cat
HKS Hi Power
ACT prolite flywheel
ACT HD street clutch
SR motor sports pulleys
Stock intake with a panel filter
Wrapped boost bros headers
RB template street port done by my friend and me when we were doing the rebuild

I think that's it for relevant mods, next year I want to break 220.
