Crazy clutch problems

I was just wondering what the hell my car was doing the other day and I keep getting a hundred different answers. I have an 09 r3 with about 9000 miles on it. I was stuck in traffic the other day and when I went to push the clutch in, it went straight to the floor like a broken emergency cable. I thought the spring broke at first but it was fine. Afterwards the clutch only caught at the last half inch on the floor. The pedal felt broke till you hit the floor then it would feel fine. The car drove fine the whole time other then the pedal feel. I shut the car off and when I started it again it was like a brand new pedal. I still have no clue what happened but I was wondering if anyone else had this issue and if they did what was the cause of it.

Hello...welcome the the club.

There is no clutch cable.

I suggest you try the following..

You could have air in your Clutch Hydraulics, have you renewed your Clutch and or Brake Fluid at any stage?

I would have someone look at it and get the Clutch Slave Cylinder bled, which will remove any air in the system.

Only 9000 miles, I cant see it being anything else, are you the original owner?

I'm the original owner and I have never done anything with the clutch or brake system. I couldn't even find the clutch slave cylinder to see if the fluid was good, unless it's a sealed unit. Im not to familiar with the clutch system since I never had an issue with it. So im guessing I should go get it checked before I get stuck without a clutch. Thanks for writing back so quick ASH8.

Clutch Pedal failure at 9000 miles is not common (I cant think of any) with Series 2's, in fact very few have the "old" bracket and original install method.

Clutch pedal bracket "failure" does not give you a fine working clutch pedal one moment and then one that goes to to floor the next....and then when owner pumps it or works fine next day.

OP, If you can PM me your VIN Number, the JM1F.............., I can tell you what bracket you have installed on your car and can also confirm IF your car is covered under Mazda extended warranty program for pedal failure.

Or look at attachment below.\/

If your car was made before Sept 13,2008 (it should be Sept 15,2008 according to Mazda's EPC) you are covered for Mazda extended SSP82, use this as the excuse and take it to a Mazda Dealer for repair...you should not pay one red cent.

Here is the Bulletin info..

I was thinking it was the recall to. I brought my car in last year when I got the letter and the dealer said that my car was fine and that it didn't have the recalled clutch braket. Which was weird because why would they send me the letter if my car wasn't recalled. I think I'm going to bring it back to the original dealer instead of the one closer to my house. Thanks for all your advise ASH8!!!!!!!!!
