Series II TSB's TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETINS

This is the Complete list of ALL Series 2 (including R3) RX-8 TSB's or Technical Service Bulletins for the North American and applicable Euro, ADR (Australia) Markets...

In almost all cases these still apply to other regions and other countries...unless NA Specific.

VIN Numbers for other countries may not correspond to the information in these Bulletins, consult your local Mazda Dealer for Confirmation.

Depending on your RX-8's Production Month/Year many of these changes have already been performed by the Mazda factory during your vehicles production, never assume these details apply to your car.

Have tried to keep in Alphabetical order, however , not always possible.

Where Series 1 (2004-2008MY) and Series 2 (2009-2011MY) Bulletins overlap or are still relevant, those Bulletins have been updated and posted here.

ANY Series 2 (2009-2011MY) TSB's posted here does not mean that they automatically apply to any or all Series 1 Unless the TSB's here says so by Model Year Date (ie 2004-2009MY or Vehicle VIN Number).

There is also a thread for Mazda Official "M'Tips" (Technical How To Tips for Mazda Service Techs), some do not apply to Series 2 RX-8's, some apply to all RX-8's
Mazda RX-8 'M-Tips' - Service Techs - RX8Club.com

From a Warranty point of view this information here is no longer relevant for Series 1's with expired Mazda’s New Vehicle Limited Warranty, (Engine/Drive Train Warranty or Special Service Programs excluded)

WARRANTY PERIODS

3 Year or 36,000 miles.... 'Bumper To Bumper' Warranty

Is the PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG MODULE Originally Made byTakata (Japan).

TIPS FOR BATTERY MAINTENANCE (REVISED)..while not for North American market...you might find some of the information interesting.

Also noted was the Precaution for Mazda's i-Stop System when disconnecting/connecting car battery...a 'main' and 'sub' batteries!

Quote..
Especially for vehicles equipped with i-stop, be sure to check the voltage of both “main” and “sub” batteries. As the sub battery runs the starter, no trouble occurs even if the main battery is low when starting the engine so please be aware of the necessity of main battery inspection.

More TSB's

PLEASE NOTE This Coolant Warning Light Comes ON - UPDATE.pdf Repair procedure no longer applies as the Coolant Bottles listed in this TSB are NO LONGER AVAILABLE.

ONLY the expensive complete Coolant Bottle with Pressure Cap which fits all RX-8's is now sold, this is the Part Number N3H1-15-350M all you need to do is install it.
Edit: September 30th, 2013.

Gear Noise Changing INTO 5th to 6th.

Gear Noise Changing INTO 5th to 6th....Early Series 2's made before April 21, 2009

PLEASE NOTE: FOR WHATEVER REASON THIS 5th and 6th Gear Noise (Grinding) TSB WAS ONLY RELEASED TO AUSTRALIAN (ADR) AND EUROPE Mazda Dealers.
THE 'Parts INFORMATION' DOES APPLY TO US AND CANADA P66M Series 2 TRANSMISSIONS.
THE SYNCHRONIZER RINGS WERE UPDATED FROM THE EXACT SAME PRODUCTION DATE FOR NORTH AMERICAN S2 RX-8's.
THE 6 Speed TRANSMISSIONS ARE IDENTICAL FOR ALL WORLD MARKETS (Except 3rd and 4th Gear Ratio's for North America).

Corrosion on Sub-Frames and Suspension Parts.

I have included this TSB here concerning a Corrosive or Rust look on black painted steel Sub-Frames and Suspension Parts under your RX-8.

While this TSB is not specifically for the RX-8 the information is the same for them.

So, do not be concerned 'IF' you have this copper/yellow/or bronze corrosion on your Black Metal Sub-Frame welds as it is normal and will not go any further..

SEE TSB.
