Series II Engine Core Warranty Length
I've been searching for the right RX8 for a few months now. I've focused on '09s due to the Series II mechanical improvements. I've called Mazda North America and run three VINs (2 R3s, 1 sport) for warranty expiration date, recalls, etc, and in all three cases they indicated that the cars did not have the 8 year / 100,000 mile engine core warranty.
I thought all RX8's got that warranty, and there are words to that effect on the Mazda website, but the Mazda rep was pretty emphatic in all three of these cases that they only had the 5 year / 60,000 mile warranty.
Does anyone have documentation or first hand experience with the Series II engine core warranty? I am leaning more toward a late Series I car now since they still have time on the clock for the warranty and are easier to find.

Powertrain Limited Warranty
Mazda warrants that the Powertrain Components of new Mazda cars and trucks will be free of defects with normal use and prescribed maintenance for 60 months or 60,000 miles, whichever comes first. Ordinary maintenance items, adjustments, parts subject to normal wear and certain other items are excluded. This “limited warranty” is transferable during the warranty period on all new Mazda vehicles sold and serviced in the United States.
RX-8 Rotary Engine Core Limited Warranty Extension
Mazda Motor Corporation is extending the warranty coverage on Rotary Engine Core Components on all RX-8 vehicles produced after the 2004 model year. The warranty coverage for the Rotary Engine Core Components is extended to 8 years (96 months) from the original warranty start date, with a 100,000 mileage limitation.
The following is a list of components covered by this warranty:

Rotary Housing and Internal Parts
Internal Seals and Gaskets
