Clutch pedal sticky - is it cold weather?

Got into the car this morning and noticed that the clutch pedal is sticking in the middle. For example: I push it down, and release it, it gets stuck in the middle, then pops up.

Driving around seems fine, and it loosened up somewhat after 15 minutes, but was still sticky afterwards. My work commute is less than 15 minutes and it's 11F degrees out, so I never got to really warm up the car.

I'm hoping that it's just frozen, does it sound normal?

Good point. I'll check it when I leave work today. It's funny, my seatbelt felt sticky too. Could be my imagination with that though.

Could be air in the hydraulic system. Check to make sure you have no leak. See if the fluid level went down.

That actually happened to me a couple of times as well. Didn't happen ever again. I try not to think about it.

I have no idea how to check. I have been searching like crazy too. I'm going to get fired for browsing this site instead of working...

The fluid is shared with the brake master cylinder (I'm going off memory here - because I have an RX-7, a Miata, and the 8. Both the Miata and the 7 have separate reservoirs. )

So if the brake master cylinder fluid level looks slightly lower than normal - could be a leak. I usually will pull the clutch release cylinder rubber boot back and make sure it's not wet inside and no fluid spills out.

Mine does the same thing. Well, it doesn't get 'stuck' but it sure doesnt spring back up when it is in gear and it is super cold outside. For example, today leaving work, 15F outside. Turn on car, wait a mninute, clutch in (super squishy), car in first, slowly drive off, clutch, 2nd gear, release pedal and it slowly comes up as the gear starts to engage. No big deal, once the tranny warms up all is kosher. Only does it when the car has been sitting in the cold.

Yep. I warmed it up and all was fine. My seatbelts were slow motion this morning too. lol

I am still going to go through some diagnostics and learn how to check fluid levels. Stupid cold weather is crippling my work time. I have a sub lying here for two weeks because it's been too cold to install.
