I have an 09 R3 with 33k miles that I bought about 2 months ago and i've almost gone through 3 quarts of oil now. First 1 was penzoil 5/20 (was in a rush and it was on the lower line no flaming lol) then switched to castrol 5/30 on the second 2 quarts. I just see these other people that claim they redline once a day and are going 1500 miles on one quart where I've already gone through 3 quarts in 2 months/1500ish miles! I cruise at about 3-4k shift at around 4500-5500rpm and redline a few times a day (don't hit 9.5 very much usually 8k) I'm just curious if anyone else's series 2 drinks it like mine does :-/ I'm not worried about the expense I just don't want to ignore an underlying issue ya know.

 

unless you have a leak or MOP problem oil use is heavily dependant on how you drive

lead foot and high revs = more oil use ( track use I have used 1-2qts a day)

granny driving = less oil use


If you are worried about it take it to the dealer and they can check the pumps out

Too much oil use is still a problem, just not nearly as severe as too little oil use. A slight malfunction is still a malfunction.
