Were there any other changes or just the clock update?

Sorry, I also reduced the button lag for the cruise control buttons. They seem to be working a bit better on my car. The last firmware I noticed some intermittent issues where you had to hold the button down for a second to register.

Thanks for the update. I installed and all went well. Here's my feedback:

1. If I plug in the RXD with the car off, the display and inputs don't work. If the car is on or running and I unplug and plug back in RXD, all works well until I turn the car off. If I go back to the original FW, this issue is not present.

2. I can get used to the button delay but for me, it still seems to be too long. I would like to see a short button press as push, release and a long button press as a push, hold for 1/2 second and release. Just a thought....

3. I think I figured out how to get out of the Engine data with a 1.5 second cancel press. Then, when in the tire pressure, wheel speed and such, I still have to use cancel to get to the next item. Shouldn't I be able to use the up/down buttons.

4. Clock adjust works great, thanks. I just can't figure out how to get out of clock adjust once you end up on that screen? What am I missing?

Great work so far. Let me know if you have any specific questions.

1. Oh ok, I know exactly why this is happening. The RXD sees that the car is off, so it goes to 'sleep'. Looks like my logic for waking back up isn't as good as it should be. I will try and fix this.

2. I will reduce the delay, we can try and find a sweet spot. I found that if i go too low, it cycles through things far too quickly. But maybe we can try and find a timing that is not to long and not to short.

3. Do you mean that when you are on tire pressure/temperature mode you need to press cancel to get to 'tire 2 / 3 / 4' ?

4. Great! I am glad it is workin out. You should be able to short press cancel to get off of the clock mode. If you are having trouble timing it, then it could be related to #1. We can work on that.

1. Great!!!

2. Okay, somewhere between where you had it initially and now should be good. I'll work with you on it....

3. No, I mean on when I am on the upper level (lvl 1) menu items: ECU, Tire Pressure, MPG, Tire Press, Set Clock. I would expect that when I am on this level that the up/down would work. Right now, I have to use cancel to move from MPG to Tire Pres or all the way to Set Clock...

When I am in the ECU monitor, I can use the up/down to scroll through items. This and set clock seem to be the only place up/down works. I thought it was to use cancel to go in to a menu item, if it had a sub item (ECU, Tire Pressure, ...) and use the Up/Down to move through each menu item. Then use cancel to go back up a menu level.

4. I think it may be related to #1. I just couldn't seem to figure out the correct timing.

Here is something else I see... When on MPG or AVG MPG, the display will show hieroglyphics, see attached. It seems to only show up if you are cruising and then let off the gas (about 5 sec) or push in the clutch (about 3 sec) and coast. As soon as you add back in gas, the display shows English.

I played with the clock set some more and I can't seem to get out of that mode. I tried many different combinations of time and button presses....

Hrmm that is interesting... looks like a memory leak. Easy fix, thanks!

This is very interesting because I dont seem to have this problem here. Hopefully your issue will go away once I fix the button timing. Stay tuned!

so i'm not sure where the stockies are in terms of worse/better, but i gave the most recent file a try (9/11/12).

Pretty much radio display is winning, however when it's in CC mode, it actually displays the monitor (but of course you can't change anything in CC, so have to scroll through CC off and turn CC on to actually display).

I see what you mean about not being able to swap out of clock mode, working on that now.

Paimon, thanks for the update. I got a wild hair up my *** this weekend and traded the car in on a Lexus ES350 on Monday. I was planning to keep it but a service tech talked me in to trading it in so he could buy the car through the dealership. We ended up splitting the difference between the dealer trade in value and a retail value with a fair price.

It's a great device and Paimon is fantastic about updates and support.

They are available during the group buy. I just sold my 8 on Monday and now have one. PM me if you are interested in purchasing it. I'll discount off the GB price.

Aww. I need to check the wiring on mine again - I get no display whatsoever anymore. I've been lazy to check it.

Paimon, Greg Knewell is the service tech that bought my car. He is interested in the RXD and may buy mine. I updated him on the updates and has a couple questions. Is it okay if I pass along your email and RX8club username?

I note some firmware updates in Dec & Jan... What are they?

Also over XMas I returned to drive my car after a couple of weeks left on the drive - and battery was flat, had to use Jump Leads...

I'd happened to plug the RxD back in and try it again - so was left in....

Was RxD responsible for flattening my battery? Boot and doors were definitely closed!

The firmware updates have been some speed increases and memory reductions. Also worked out some bugs with a few users. As far as the battery drain goes, has anyone else had that issue? I haven't run into that issue yet, but I wouldn't think the RxD would kill off your battery. When the car is on the device consumes about 23mA, and when the device is in sleep mode (detects no activity on the bus) it is only drawing about 0.1mA - 0.2mA.

I did not ever have an issue with battery drain and my car has custom stereo and lots of other current draw stuff. It would sit at the airport for a week at a time and no issues.

How old is your battery? This is probably a sign that it is time to replace an tired battery. I'd have it checked.

No problem at all, I am still a lurker.... I was just talking with Greg (new owner) the other day when I was getting my car serviced. He loves the car and the RxDuino. He said he's updated it once or twice. He also wants to figure out a way to trick the O2 sensor so he can stripe the Cat. Right now, he will just reinstall the Cat for the emissions inspection.

He plans to put it on one of Lexus computers to see if he can figure out what exactly the ECU is looking at from the sensor. He knows that in the newer Lexus, the ECU will adjust the fuel trims at certain points in a drive cycle and then looks to make sure the ECU sees the results at the O2 sensor.

Bhammer it sounds like it is only an obd2 check in Texas, right? If so he can easily pass emissions without the cat on. There is a DIY on it in the s1 section.
