Window Tints
Hey guys!
Just wondering if any of you put tints on your cars yet? If so, what kind and if you have any pics? I keep reading that we should be using the metallic films because it interferes with the radio signals. Which leaves the pricey non-metallic films like Wincos/Huper Optik/ Pinnacle. I'm interested in the Wincos/Huper Optik film but they are mainly for heat rejection and I can't find a dealer who would go darker then 35% since I'm in Texas. Just doesn't look dark enough for me...

15% Cerametallic Film...Llumar Comfort Series- Lifetime warranty
Film shouldn't mess with most radio signals...and I've had no problem with my "Advanced Key" reading it. Although, I made sure to mount my Radar Detector below the front strip...as those signals are REALLY low frequency.

Hey, that looks like a really nice tint. How's the heat rejection on it? I just spoke to a salesperson about it. I'm not sure if it's the llumar comfort series but they do have llumar ceramic. But it's kind expensive...$299.... How much did you get yours for?

I got a deal on mine, because I got my '04 Evo tinted at the same place about 2 months prior. When I told the guy about what happened to my Evo (long story short, one of my friends totaled it), he gave me a good deal. I also get a Military Discount (25% off).
I payed 175.00 for all windows, rear glass, and front strip (which I didn't like at first, but it's grown on me).
It's not cheap, mainly because it comes with a Lifetime Warranty, and it's cerametallic film. I'm not sure on exact heat rejection numbers, but I know that it's ALOT cooler in the car since the tint. I just wouldn't pay out for the "High Performance" series film, because it's like buying a $2000 lawn mower to cut a 10' x 10' lawn..way too unnecesary...

Had mines tinted last week. Chose 3M brand, 20% in the back/rear. 75% in the front. Lifetime warranty, no noticeable interference with my radio/advanced key since i put it on. Looks really good, though i wish I could have gotten something darker on the front and limo in the back! Damn California tints laws.

in texas we can have 35% on the front windows and 20% on any side windows (referring strictly to passenger cars). HOWEVER, they also tell us that on our car all side tint must match...so...you can technically only have 35% on the side of your RX-8. Now, for the back glass, you can do whatever you want as long as you've got your side mirrors. my car is 35% on all side glass, and 20% on the rear:
I actually really like the way mine is while in the car. It's dark enough all around that any sun coming in has no glare, and you really don't even feel the need to squint. Plus, at night, it's still plenty light enough to see with no hinderance what so ever with the windows up. I honestly thought about Limo all around but decided to go legal since the car was my DD at the time and didn't want to get hassled over tint constantly.

Mine is 35% all around with a 20% windshield strip. I like it because it's legal and doesn't get too in the way at night or in bad weather like the 5% I had all around on my A8L with 20% on the windshield.
