question on removing oil drain plug

And to add a bit of information to this post... I am very lazy and don't like having to struggle to get the oil filter off. Mazda sells a wrench that works perfectly. Mazda part number is 49G0-14-001. It was $10-$20 from your local dealer. If you can still order it, I highly recommend getting one.

That’s good to know. Thanks for the additional information.
I’ve been holding out since I’ve only driven 3,000 miles in the past year, but after a year I guess the oil has to be changed.
I’m coming up on 100,000 miles and I want to keep it running decently another year at least.
