Yes, and I didnt know that. I have heard that some exhausts are Raspy with just the cat-back? Or maybe I heard wrong or they posted the wrong info. But Im starting to think you are right.

So with that exhaust theres no need to weld any of the pieces together, they just bolt up with gaskets then? Is that the same for any after market exhaust for the rx8?
I hope so, my last car I bought an exhaust for had to have the pieces welded together because it came with u-clamps that didnt hold it together.

Got the racing beat exhaust all installed and I must say that I am kind of disappointed that it isn't much louder than the stock setup. May once I get an intake on there it will be a little louder; wasn't really wanting to do a mid-pipe.

The Michigan "WANKEL"
Racing Beat describes their exhaust as being an exhaust aimed at a "mature" customer not looking to make a big difference in the loudness of their exhaust. I eventually plan on replacing every bit of the exhaust, so I want a cat-back exhaust that's pretty quiet to help reduce the extra sound from the header and potentially greater sound from a mid-pipe (depending on what hardware combination I go with). If I were just planning on doing the cat-back, I would probably want something a bit louder than Racing Beat's exhaust.

I'm not quite sure on how much I want to mod...I am still breaking in the engine per racing beats instructions so I am not going above 4k rpm. Maybe once I start going above that the sound will get louder???
