Yes I have the bearing race. I don't know about any weak springs.
I don't recall ever hearing this.
The spring is about the same pressure as stock. Also I had them made from stainless steel so they would last forever.
Your welcome to a new spring but I doubt you can change it yourself.
It might have to come back here to go in the fixture.
It's not impossable you'll just need 3 or 4 hands.

I can't understand how come everyone was bugging me for S2 shifters and there is still one left??

Sticky! Definately getting the short shifter when i can afford it after all my other mods ._.
*throws wallet away*

{bump}

Just traded my S1 in on an R3 and panicked upon realizing that I'll be losing my AFE short shifter! I sent Rich a message and discovered that he's out of S2 shifters and has no plans to make more unless he can get 10 buyers for a new batch.

Any takers? Anyone? Bueller?

Woohoo! Two down, eight to go. Come on, folks, join the S2 short shifter cool kids club!

MazdaPi 03-15-2015 04:26 PM

I'm down

VFX001 03-16-2015 02:32 PM

Only seven people left until S2 shifting bliss!

For all of you upgrading your S1 to an S2 transmission, think about completing the upgrade with an S2 short shifter. Unless we can get at least 10 people to commit, there won't be any S2 short shifting fun for you!

REtali8 03-18-2015 03:29 PM

Put me down, was already planning on purchasing one when I get my car back together.

Only six more brave souls needed!

Would we get a discount seeing as this is basically a group buy?

If so, I'm in.

VFX001 03-23-2015 09:27 AM

Negative on a group buy discount. Rich needs at least ten committed buyers in order to make another run of shifters cost-effective. Now if you were able to get a hundred buyers, then it might be a possibility, but seeing how it's been difficult to even get ten, I'm not hopeful.

Smutterbutter 03-24-2015 12:58 PM

If I was unable to find a reasonable used OEM S2 shifter I was planning to get this one. Put me down for a definite maybe hahaha.

qtipconnoisseur 03-25-2015 10:47 PM

Woohoo! Maybe halfway!

By the way, would it be inappropriate if we advertised our little "group buy" in General?

MazdaPi 03-27-2015 12:51 PM

no man go for it.

Mazdatrix has two on shelf, call Geoff 562 426 4577

TeamRX8 04-02-2015 09:17 PM

Or order online ....

qtipconnoisseur 04-11-2015 01:45 AM

Take me off the list. I picked one up from Mazdatrix as soon as I saw the post, lol. Just installed it this afternoon and boy, what a difference! getting the housing on and off was somewhat of a pain in the ass, as there was no room to get a socket in, but I managed. Besides that, install was pretty straightforward.

Shifts are now so much better! Shift engagement feels more precise, more positive, and more willing. Throw is reduced at the expense of effort, but the increased effort is worth it and not very noticeable. Out of our 3 other family cars ( 2004 STi w/ kartboy shifter, 2007 Mazdaspeed3 with TWM shifter [ not the full kit w/ plate ], and s2000 w/ stock shifter ) I'd place the rx8's shifting at a very close second to the s2000. Keep in mind that I have a much-lighter-than-stock shift knob, which reduces the feel of 'solidness' that a heavier knob has. I also have not changed my transmission fluid yet.

There is some slight buzzing at higher RPMs with mid to high load but it's not that audible. The improved shift quality is completely worth it. Overall I'm very satisfied with the shifter and hope you guys are able to find a few more so Richard can make you a batch.

Richard Paul 04-17-2015 01:14 PM

You haven't tried the Axialflow shifter for the S2000?
That poor Honda getting left out of the fun.
All the Honda guys kept saying that there was no need for a shift kit, until
they tried the Axialflow.
There were so many naysayers on that forum that I told them "OK I wouln't make it then"
Then I made it.
Really, go look it up on their forum.

Rockinjaz 04-30-2015 05:37 PM

tbeam 05-08-2015 12:32 PM
