still giving the benefit of the doubt, my patience only lasts so long though.

I'm sure you will receive it, sooner or later. RP used to be a thorough vendor here years ago.

I'm very sorry guys. This has been a battle for me. But all the shifters are done (see photo.) I'm only waiting on a flat plate that goes in the intallation kit.
I'm trying to get it machined over the weekend. The shippers with addresses are already made out. I will keep you posted over the weekend.

I wonder why I don't get these posts in my Email?
Have the rules changed or something, I used to get them when posted?

This is all I need. In the picture the plate with the inside cut away hasn't been finished. The fixture, the program and the first operation are done. I just need a day on a maching center. So close it's killing me. My shop can't do it, one VMC is in need of repair and the other two have tooling setup on them for on going jobs. I'm trying to find another shop with an idle machine. And not want to charge me for their whole shop. That's what I'm doing now, calling around.
I feel your pain.

What is the thread pitch on the shifter? I'm going to have a ball made for it.

Richard Paul 04-16-2012 10:03 PM

I have someone who says he'll be able to do my parts tomorrow.
That's the only part missing.

paimon.soror 04-17-2012 06:07 AM

Great, thanks for the update!

benben01 04-17-2012 10:42 PM

Any updates on the S/C Richard?

Richard Paul 04-18-2012 08:19 AM

Parts are done, they all go out today.
Supercharger isn't going to get built. It was taking just to much money to develop, we'd never get it back.

I might have missed this in the thread, but will the OEM Shift knob fit on this shifter?

Ordered the shifter off the website this week, got it today. Can't wait to install it, looks really good!! Thanks for the fast shipment! I have been waiting to order this since I got my 2009 R3.

Apart from the original DIY,
http://www.axialflow.com/ss8_diy.htm

You mentioned that
there is a riser block that is put between the transmission and the tower, and that there is a tool included to help with it, can you explain a little better? I haven't installed a short shifter before, and I just want to make sure I know what I am getting myself into. I want to install it tomorrow, and I would be definitely willing to take pictures of the install.

I assume the Teflon block is the tool? Why are there 2 brackets? I will see where they go tomorrow....Here are the parts I got today:

Richard Paul 04-21-2012 11:21 AM

The little plate with 3 holes plus the plastic dowel are tools.
They are there to help you remove the shift tower in order to install the other larger plate which we call the rise block. We provide those because a puller is something not likely to be in the average tool box a guy has at home. It's not hard to do so don't let it scare you off. I just did a Miata yesterday and it only took 30 min.
The G3 Miata is very similar to the S2. He took pictures and I hope they can be used in my DIY.

I forgot about the most important part of getting my new shifter.....Do I get "go fast" stickers with it??? :)

Richard Paul 05-29-2012 03:52 PM

I've never really been into stickers but I might since it's not real hard to do anymore.
I'm going to put 3 screws in the kits from now on that are to be used on the puller. Some guys have had problems with the stock screws not getting enough thread.

FYI They are really screws I started to write bolts like everyone else because it's common. But if it has no nut then it's a screw add a nut and it becomes a bolt. Don't ask me why for I do not know.
When they say "head bolts" that's wrong. When you read the factory parts book you'll notice they say "screws".
And that's the lesson for today, till class next time.
