Thinking about getting Sumitomo HTR A/S P02 tires

Appreciate any feedback on Sumitomo tires

Wheels will be stock RX8 rims

Suspension is stock for now. Plannning on going with Tien Street Basics coilovers in the near future .

Tires are basically the same as stock only wider....so good choice. They will fit well on stock offset wheels. You could likely run small spacers if you want to push them out a bit more and still be OK. ( not a spacer fan but just saying :-))

Tire Rack

Tire Rack said the 255's "might" be too wide.

From what I've seen on this forum everyone says the 255's on stock wheels, no spacers, work just fine.
Am I correct?

Hi all,

I have see rims but I would like to know if it fit :)

Thanks

RotaryMachineRx 05-25-2018 07:49 AM

Benoit Tournerie 05-28-2018 01:11 AM

Finally got around to getting some coilovers for my RX-8, so I can put my wheels on...

They fit almost perfectly. I didn't touch the alignment, or adjust them yet. Just took measurements of each coil and made sure they were all even...

The rear needs to come down some, and I still think I need 295s-315s on the rear... but otherwise it is about perfect.

Square 18x9.5 +35mm 275/35. No Spacers, stock alignment.

^ Looks good, how much rubbing on wheel well liners up front when turning?

Just curious as I want to get 265's for my next tires but I'm a +30mm offset, so would essentially be the same dimensions

blackmount 05-31-2018 01:13 PM

I didn't drive it around much last night due to how tired and dirty i was...... Didn't even hit any fun back roads which is the whole point of this....

During that time though I did not hear or feel any rubs. I gave it a pretty good amount of steering angle when moving around in the gas station parking lot and pulling into my drive way, but I haven't tried going lock to lock while moving. Going full lock while trying to navigate a turn isn't something I do often even when parking. I will be shocked if it doesn't rub at full lock

When I replace these wheels I will most likely look for the same offset up front but in a 8.5"

Having the car picked up by Mazda tomorrow morning to have some work done, and will not have it back until middle of next week sometime. When I get it back I will really put it through its paces and find where the rubs are.

Kawik_04 06-14-2018 03:31 PM

Trying to figure out if i can make this work.
18x11" +43 with 295/30/18 R888R with spacer to optimize offset while keeping them rotatable.
At 400whp which is silly fun on stock tires but looking to move up to 600+ so will need a fair bit more meat.
Slightly lowered on coilovers, I know it will need the fenders to be rolled and probably pulled,no stock oil coolers, not running liners. shaved tabs, pinch weld, etc..just want to know if i can squeeze it under stock body without ridiculous amounts of camber or if i will need to go with overfenders/widebody. thanks!

https://scontent-ort2-1.xx.fbcdn.net...d2&oe=5BBFD71D

The only rubbing I have experienced so far is on really bad dips in the road, and it is minimal.

I am thinking Fender Roll, and a still functional amount of negative camber will probably make it perfect.

I have had ZERO rub when going lock to lock.

I will say these Tein Basic Coilovers are fantastic on the Street. The ride is exactly what I wanted. It is much firmer, and the car handles drastically better, but still has lots of give to make it have a Factory level ride... I don't mean Factory Level in a RX-8, I more mean, Factory Level like in a 911 GT3, Modern Ferrari, Lotus Elise, etc....

It does roll a touch more than I'd like still on really hard cornering, so I think with Upgraded Sway Bars it will be perfect!

Mazda also replaced ALOT of extra parts in the front suspension for the recall, and gave it a fresh alignment. So the whole car just feels tight as a drum, and by far one of the best handling cars I've ever driven... And I've driven the cars mentioned above....

RotaryMachineRx 06-21-2018 09:53 AM

Perfect thanks, usually full lock isn't where you get the rubbing anyway, it's usually somewhere in between. Good to know!

USAF05rx8 06-22-2018 05:23 PM

That's an aggressive setup on an Evo X. Seems like a bad idea.

hi guys,

one of my headlights went off, checked it and it was the ballast, is it okay if we use an aftermarket 55w ballast? stock is 35w, but the aftermarket 35w ballast doesnt light up brightly compared to the oem ballast, in my country the oem ballast costs a bomb and have to pre order from japan, takes roughly 2 months, thus oem seems impossibru. my concern is will anything melt? is the bulb strong enough to take 55w?

Thanks!

Yes, these wheels should fit. Maybe a little roll in the rear, nothing major.

I know this may be a dead thread, but if someone can tell me what you think about this setup I would appreciate it. I know some of you have said not to do staggered but I like the way it looks anyways. Here are the specs:

Offset: +30/22mm
Bolt Pattern: 5x114.3
Size: F: 19x8.5 R: 19x9.5

Assuming you didn't write that incorrectly, I'd suggest a higher offset in the rear. Maybe 30-36, not sure what's available in the wheels you're looking at.

You'll need to roll your rears and maybe trim the rear bumper tabs with my suggested offset. With +22, you'll need some more serious work. Depends on the tire size too.

Howdy Thinking of running Simmons FR1 lowered with rolled gaurds

F 18x8.5 +35 with 245/40/18 or 255/40/18

R 18x9.5 +45 with 285/35/18

Which rim will have more dish ?

Sydo 09-20-2018 07:01 AM

So anyone running 285/35/18 rears ?

keck03 10-08-2018 11:08 AM

I searched this thread and saw some people had some rubbing so I thought I would double check.

18x9.5 +35 with 245/40 all around. Lowered on tein h techs and koni yellows. stock alignment settings

Any feedback/thoughts would be appreciated! I am looking for no issues. I had issues once on another car and it was always a PITA dealing with coilovers/camber plates
