It may rub. Search for my thread on wheel well liner rub. I'm running 19x8.5 +40, 255/35 and I have very miner liner rub.

 

255/35/19 overall diameter is actually very close in size to OE setup 225/45/18 which why I choose it. But it is wider which where I get the rub.

 

no doubt the 255/35/19 tire is the closest you can get to OEM in 19s.

compared to the people running 18x9.5 +45 275/35/18, the OEM tire is larger. which is why the enkei guys can fit the tire in there without rubbing. looks like when you exceed lower than a certain offset and the car is lowered, it's the tire diameter coupled with turning the wheel that causes it to rub.

tires 245/35/19

i realized shortly after posting that the 9.5's would rub, keep in mind MS springs.. so roughly 2/3 - 20mm drop

 

I'm dropped with Tein Flex.

Also worth noting that before having the coilovers installed the back rubbed when when hitting a dip in the road going about 70 mph.

 

those will fit easy. it won't be as aggressive, though.
maybe put 255/35/19 instead.

 

thought about it.... maybe, i'd like to keep the speedo as accurate as possible though....

did you read anything in this thread? lol, just poking fun.

on stock rim you shouldn't do anything of those tire sizes. 245/40/18 or 255/40/18. 265 mm is too big to stick on an 8 inch wheel.

 

would there be any disadvantage of running a 30 profile on a 19" rim?
I know it could be less comfortable and more prone to a damaged rim but its closer to the stock diameter when running a relatively wide tire.
Say 265/35/19 vs. 265/30/19

but umm, the OEM tire size is 225/45/18 giving it a diameter of 26.0 inches

265/35/19 gives it a diameter of 26.3 inches

265/30/19 gives it a diameter of 25.3 inches

I think you'd want to go with a 265/35 tire instead

Keep in mind that the sidewall profile is a percentage of the width of the tire so 30 will not the same for every size.

I already have 255/40 all the way around. And I have read where some autocross guys ran 285 on a 8 inch rim, but I guess that is just for autocross and not safe for the street?

 

Yes you're right about the diameters and these were the only disadvantages I was aware of, besides lookin kinda awkward. I was thinking wider and the diameter does kinda even out at about 295

 

yea, its meant for the track. especially with the size of our sidewall being not so large, you'd really be stuffing the tire on the wheel. rovers and 4runners (and the like) can do it because of the sidewall being pretty big. a 285 tire is meant for a 9.5 inch wheel give or take a half inch.

not saying it can't be done, but its not used efficiently that way. most will opt out to a wider rim if they want a wider tire. it will give more contact surface.

 

haha 295/30/19 would work nicely

you should step it up some more and go 355/25/19.
