Im pretty sure your rear will be fine. Its your front wheels im worried about.

Essentially you are trying to go 1cm further out than the current popular enkei rpf1 setup. Im sure theres people on here who have that setup that can advise you if their is space or not to do so.

How low is your car dropped?
SCSI has his slammed with the RPF1 Setup... so he had to roll his fenders. Its not really that big of a deal... a good shop can do it for cheap and itll look completely normal.

you will rub the rear. i have 19s and run 275 with a 9.5 +36 wheel and i required a fender shave.

it's really borderline between running a 265 and 255 tire if you don't want to rub. i can't remember exactly which.

What is it that worries you about the front wheels?

i'm pretty sure a 265 tire for the rear will suffice as i know someone who runs a 9.5 +40 on 275s without rubbing or massive camber.

the front wheels if you go option 2, will stick out a lot. you will probably rub anytime you turn your wheel.

note the degree of rubbing will depend if you lower your car.

since you are not dropped... and since these are 18s, not 19s... you should be ok.

My car is lowered about 1.25 inches and I have about 1/2" (index finger) clearance when the wheel is turned all the way.
That's 265/35-18's on 18 x 8.5 with 38mm offset.
I think a 35mm is going to be a lot closer. OK 3mm's closer.

wheel size being 18s or 19s doesn't matter since the diameter with the tire on is the same. actually my 275/30/19 is very slightly shorter than a 275/35/18.

Ahhh very nice... Common sense really, i'm just going crazy here trying to decide if I should go ahead with it or not, i'm 99% sure i'm going to go with:

18x8.5 front (+35) 225/45-18
18x9.5 rear (+35) 275/35-18

The 225's are simply because I have 4 of them which are all still in good shape and are approved for an 18x8.5 rim...

The rolling diameter is off very slightly, but doesn't matter to me...

My other option for tires, which I think I may go with if I just order rims now is:
235/40-18
265/35-18

The Rolling diameter for the 275/35 toyo's is 25.4... Rolling Diameter for the 265 Federal SS595 is 25.3... I prefer the Federal Tyres over the Toyo's by a long shot...

btw my car is not slammed lol. id love to run a 18x9.5 +35. aggressive setup tho, it will stick out about as much ash the 18x10 +41 in my picture

aggressive fitment means you gotta look at camber specs too

I went ahead and purchased the rims today... So now my quest begins for purchasing the tires... I am 100% sure I am going with Federal Tyres, but unsure of which size to go for...
18x8.5 (+35) and 18x9.5 (+35)

Federal SS595 Tyre Specs:
OD = Overall Diameter
SR = Standard Rim for such a tire
App Rim = Approved Rim sizes for each tire

- My plan is originally to go 235/40-18 in the front, and 265/35-18 in the rear, but the whole rubbing issue obviously bothers me...
- I can run 255/35-18's on the front AND back rims...
- I can run 245/40-18's on the front AND back rims...

All of those combinations would allow me to keep the same rolling diameter in the front and back... Or I could go with something like a 235/40-18 in front and 255/35-18 in the rear and there would be a slight difference...

All situations put me off a bit from the stock Rolling Diamater, but as i've said previously, thats not really so much of an issue to me...


So all you staggered guys out there, what is your opinion on the best setup for me? I love the look of a nice wide tire in the back is my biggest obstacle here lol...

depends on your tire size.

i ran a 17X9 +40 with...
255/40/17 on all 4

no rubbing issues and had plenty room to go wider with the tire.

Ok heres another one....

I finally made my decision to get VoLk GTFs 19x9.5....the only problem is that vividracing offers many offsettings to include 40mm 42mm and 49mm...

which is best to fit my stock 8?

Stock Offset is 50mm I think; so anything lower will push the wheel out farther; all of those offsets will fit without rubbing; depending on the tire size.

This isn't directed towards anyone in particular, but here's a bit of advice to add: figure out if the wheel and tire combo will fit BEFORE you buy it. Too many people here buy something first and then post here trying to find out if it actually fits or not. :banghead: (Another alternative is to put the damn wheels on the car and find out!)

Well...in my case...I'm puchasing the wheels online...i dont have the luxury to test fit the wheels...but thanks for the advice...

no worries, im sure whitehot means, figure it out by either trying it on or asking on the forum before. a lot of people buy their wheels and then come to the forum to ask. and then they complain when it doesn't fit.

for your choices 19x9.5, i suggest doing +42 if you plan on running it all around. you won't have any problems running 265 tires.

I'm planning to get 19x8.5 fronts and 19x9.5 rears
the sales rep says to go with 245/35/19 fronts and 275/35/19 rears

what should the offsets be on the front and rear? I'm looking at adr m-sports, i think they only come in +35 and +45 offset for the fronts and only +35 in the rears.
any rubbing? and will my car need any shaving?

im running 19 x 9.5 front and rear with 255/35-19 all the way around, lowered on eibach 1.2 drop and 40 offset on all 4. no rubbing, but the rear is cambered pretty agressivily (dont know the number, its where it set when i lowered it) but it barely misses rubbing, i cant stick my pinky finger in between tire and fender in back.

if you are going with a 275 rear, you will want to do at least a 45 or 50 offset, or else you will need to roll or shave your rear fender lips.

also, if you go with a staggered setup, you will be more likely to experience understeer when taking corners at speed

put the +45 in the rear and the +35 in the front... that Negative 10 offset difference will help to balance the 12.5 mm you loose from going with a 1" (1" ~ 25mm... 25/2 = 12.5) smaller rim up front.

Dont listen to your sales rep. Theres no such thing as a "rear" and "front" offset. A rims a rim... and the right setup is the right setup. Also, clearly he doesnt understand how profiles work*

Also... if your going 245/35/19 in the front, you want 275/30/19 in the rear

So...
(F) 19X8.5 +35 - 245/35/19
(R) 19X9.5 +45 - 275/30/19

*Side Note:
The profile (sidewall) of your tire is calculated from the middle number in the set of 3, which is a percentage of the first number. For example... 275/30/19.
Tire Width = 275 millimeters.
Tire Height/Sidewall/Profile = 275*.30 = 82.5 millimeters
Rim Diameter = 19 inches

So width that... if you are 245/35/19... that means your profile is 85.75 mm (245*.35)

Width that you have two options...
A - 275/30/19 = 82.5 mm profile (275*.30)
B - 275/35/19 = 96.25 mm profile (275*.35)

Obviously you want option (A). Otherwise your rear tire will be 10.5 mm taller than your front tire. Which is a very noticeable difference/mistake
