Wheel Locks

Anyone have experience with Gorilla locking lug nuts? Are they better, worse, or equal to McGard?

bought a set to use only on autocross days...just something for fun. They work fine in the chrome versions, but the colored ones lose the color at the points where they contact the rim (when fullly torqued). The coloring stayed on the parts contacted by the lug wrench, so this is good. Have a set of chrome ones on my girlfriend's 8, they look/work great.

In all cases, these are the longer spline drives, not the short open ended spline drive versions.

Is there something specifically you were concerned about, or did my response help?

That's a good choice...

Always need locking lug nuts at Auto cross.

Never know when someone going to steal your wheels.

Yes, that's great, thank you. I'm getting a new set of lugs with my new rims and I just wanted to make sure these were an okay choice. I'd hate to drop so much money on rims and tires then crap out on the lugs. I'll be getting the chrome ones so I think I'll be okay. I noticed that the closed end lug nuts come in "bulge" and "standard". Is one better than the other for aluminum wheels?

at Razz1.....these lugs are not locking nuts, so steal away

at Socr8tes....I think you may want to ask the wheel shop you are buying the wheels from which will fit your wheels best. I know I went with the longer/thinner spline drive for my wheels, as there wasn't a lot of room to fit a lug wrench for a standard lug nut. As for "bulge" vs. "standard"..I'm not too sure what standard is.....but the pics below is what they call "bulge" and the type I bought "spline drive".
