TPMS knows which tire is which?

I have an odd question:
Does the TPMS/PCM system know which tire is at which corner of the car? Or, is there anything on the car that logs how wheels were rotated or moved around on the car?

Thanks,
FS

Yes, though I'm not sure it's the TMPS that logs it. DSC wouldn't be possible without the car knowing which tires are sliding.

I didn't mean that--sorry, post was probably confusing. Hypothetically speaking, if I rotated my wheels in a random pattern, would the 8 know where each wheel was originally located, and where they are now located?

I'm not positive, but I think I read somewhere that the TPMS doesn't know which tire is which. (In fact, I believe this was a criticism of the TPMS system that's been adopted—there was another TPMS technology that I think was tire specific.) If I'm not mistaken, TPMS is triggered if any tire is below (or above) the programmed tire pressure range—but no, it doesn't know which tire is low.

Thanks, New Yorker. turbosa22c, we aren't talking about traction control. We are talking about, say, if the 8 can detect/knows if you swap a wheel from the left side to the right.

The TPMS system knows about each sensor individually. If you use Dan Harrison's program, you can see the temp and pressure for each wheel individually.

BUT... It doesn't know or care which wheel is which. The RX8 runs 32 PSI in each tire, so it doesn't matter front/back or left/right. All that turns on is a simple light on the dash that tells you to go check your tires, so no need to know what is what.
