there are definitely some ebay stores that have been around for awhile and have 10,000+ feedbacks. I suspect they don't sell knockoffs and the pics they show are at least not knockoff looking according to Tein's website. Least 2 places I am looking are selling for 175 with free shipping which seems to be the lowest I can find.

 

Plus most of the ebay stores have good return policies as well. A seller with a good reputation does not want the negative feedback from selling a knock-off.

 

Yea I talked to one of my old work buddies who is gonna help me get them on. I am just looking for the best deal on the springs now.

EDIT: I PMed assaulttech (a vendor on this fourm) and they have a great deal on the Tein springs if anyone wants to buy some.

swapping out the springs isn't too tough, it's a bit time consuming the first time you do it but if you have a 2nd person helping, it's much easier.

check the DIY subforum, there should be a few threads on swapping out struts, springs, or coilovers. They'll all pretty much walk you through how to get the suspension out and then just reinstall in reverse order.

PLEASE make sure you have a spring compressor, very bad things can happen if you don't.
I rented one at AutoZone when I did my suspension swap. If you haven't rented tools from them before, you're missing out. They "charge" you for the tool you're borrowing and when you return it, you get a full refund.

 

I actually just now checked your PM, I Pmed assaulttech yesterday about the springs and they already replied. I have been reading the DIY on changing springs. It does not look all that difficult and also my friend is gonna help me with it who knows how to change the springs.

I will get a compressor from autozone. I did not know that you could rent tools for free from autozone tho. That is freakin awesome!

yeah, AutoZone rocks for that kind of stuff!
at the register, there should be a large laminated 'menu' on the countertop that shows everything you can rent.

Heck, they even used to loan you the OBDII scanners so you could go home and pull codes from your car. (too bad the retards in charge here in CA ruined that for everyone)
I've also used them for tool to compress the caliper when doing brake jobs.

SO Im can't decide on spring but curious here. Some places show the S's having a drop of 1.8 in the front while others show 1.4

which is true?

 

All the ones I've seen seem like more of a 1.4 drop.

 

deff go with tein springs, they are great. as said many times, dont buy off ebay. there has been a problem with imitators on ebay saying they are selling authentic tein but they are fakes. just go to http://www.tein.com/ and order from there so you know you are getting authentic parts. and go to pep boys or sears or anything like that and get spring compressors. it will make it a lot easier

 

if i were to buy springs again i'd probably get sprint springs, right now im running the s-techs and they're wayy too soft

mine too, i drive around daily in los angeles, lets just say the roads are a little less than perfect, something stiffer wont affect your driveability if you have a proper set of matching shocks, imo stock shocks will feel worse paired with a soft spring because of the crappy valving

 

suggestions then? Aren't the sport springs normally not made to pair with the OEM shocks or at least it's not recommended?

 

actuall im looking at ohlins type HA coilovers for my next setup. They're a little more than 2x stock spring rate, and if ohlins parts are anything like they are for motorcycles, should be a HUGE improvement.

If you search for Lionzoo's thread on here, he built a custom set of coil overs using custom tein springs with about the same rate as the ohlins (400 front 280 rear), and a set of bilstein shocks valved for that spring rate

i've driven his car and mine back to back. While his car feels stiffer overall, it also reacts better to bumps and imperfections in the road. My car on the other hand with s tech and koni yellows has alot more movement in turns and hits harder over bumps as well.
