Sway Bars

Ok, after the H&R drop, Volk wheels, fender rolling,
Ready for sway bars, looking at the RB ones.
Is there a reason they sell them front and rear separately?
Do I need them both?
I was thinking of doing the rears so there would be les "roll"
And they are the easiest to install to...

If you just use the front, well welcome to a bit more oversteer. From what I gathered from RB today when I called to ask the same thing, they said it was best to use both sway bars to keep the car balanced when doing steady state turns. I've always thought that if you use a front sway that is too big that the inside front tire would be lifted off the ground during hard turns, which probably isn't the best thing.

If you are only doing one swaybar and I normally wouldn't recomend it, do the front bar. If you only replace the rear one, you will be fighting to keep control of the car every time you corner hard. You will end up with a lot of oversteer. With a good front bar, it will push like a front wheel drive car. But at least it will be more controlable. This is the route I took with my RX7 and I was all most lifting the inside front tire off the ground while cornering.

The Racing Beat sway bars are pretty damn good quality! They are not adjustable which is a bit unfortunate since having adjustability to dial it to suit would be nice. I installed them today on my RX8 with help from my friends at WORKS in San Francisco, a local Evo performance shop/tuner. Total install time was about an hour for both sway bars, with the rear sway bar taking about 15 minutes tops. The rear sway bar really was effortless.

Anyhow, check out the differences here. The Racing Beat front sway bar is a honking 32mm and both are one piece forged. Attach some blades to it and you can use it as a Klingon battle weapon. :D Unfortunately, the brackets that came with the front sway bar did not fit perfectly and were bending a bit when we bolted them in.

That's a big front sway bar!

Installed!

I think another reason to sell them separately is that SCCA autocross stock classes permit changing the front bar but not the rear bar. So an autocrosser might just buy the front bar so they can stay in stock class.

Thanks guys,
The pictures and DIY will surly help me install mine next week.
I bought the:
Tanabe Sustec Front Swaybar - 30.4mm
And Tanabe Sustec Rear Swaybar - 20.4mm

Still on the fence for an exhaust, looking at the Tanabe unit.
Anyone have one?

Once the bars are one a full alignment will be done.
Finally found a place that can align lowered vehicles and handle 19" rims.
Anything special I should ask for when they do so?
I was thinking of a small negative camber sins after the drop with the H&R there is still a slight rub.
(Only do about 5000 miles a year, so tire ware is not my main concern)

Ok, sways are in the car.
It was not a 2 our job, more than 5!
Upfront I had a stripped bolt, (where the rubber bushings are)
Had to cut it & replace it with a new one.
Meaning remove all plastic inner fender so I could drill the old bolt out....
Great fun!
Just need to get one new nut for the end links....
And try it out tomorrow.

You can drill a hole and make it adjustable.

U don't need adjustment unless your a pro racer.
