Sway Bar

Does the sway bar actually make that much of difference. what i really mean is, is it actually worth the money. What exactly does it do. I heard it makes your car handle well but the rx8 handles fantastic either way. I was thinking about the MS spoiler but after refering to this website the sway bars seem like the way to go. Poll Time!!!

you don't have to get MS sway bars. The RB ones are probably just as good (if not better in some folks' opinions) and much cheaper at around $350 or so for the set. I'm sure you can install them yourself or have someone from the forum help you do it.

Yes....the sways do make a very noticable difference. I have the Tanabe sways and paid 170 per bar. The Install took about an hour by myself.

I have had the Racing Beat bars for a while and I first installed the rear one because I was doing the exhaust at the same time. It took about 30 minutes and the difference was huge. Most noticeable was that the inherent wheelhop was gone. A few days later I did the front bar. The front end felt way more glued to the ground. I am quite satisfied with my new swaybars and can't wait to finally put the rest of my springs on, too. I did the fronts but still need to do the rears.

Another option that you might look at is that Racing Beat is selling front & rear sway bars & a set of their springs for $516 on their website. I just got them. This will really help your handling all the way around.

Any negative impacts in "real world" street driving from the sway bars? I was watching that Sports Car Revolution show the other day (I know...my first mistake) and they were saying something about these things being great for a race car but sometimes with a street car they tend to skip sideways when they hit a pothole if the bar is too stiff, or something. It didn't make much sense to me, and then they seemed to be discussing sway bars and strut braces interchangeably so who knows if they had any clue or not.

Good info here on how they work and what the cons are after installing them. I'd be extra careful with the balance of the car when choosing what sway bars to use:

The whole RB suspension package with the springs is like 520$. You can install in one day. Throw in the endlinks and shipping and your still @ 600$
