Squeaky noise from Tein basic
Squeaky noise from Tein basic
Installed Tein basics last night and a “squeaky” noise is come from the rear of the car.
It sounds like plastic on rubber….
Also have Tanabe sway bars that use rubber bushings.
Maybe some WD40 on the rubber parts of the shocks might help?

It's driving me nuts!
Will try to grease or oil the top hat where it meets the springs....
Would it do harm if I take of the end links of the sway bar and drive for
Mile slowly? To eliminate that the sound is coming from the sway bar?
Took the end links off and sway bar, squeak still there....
Reseated the springs, same thing....
Used WD40 on all rubber mounts bushings ext...
Will know later today if it's fixed. Have no hope that it is....

All is OK.
No more squeaks, ext.
As said in this tread, it is either a sway bar issue or an installer problem.
It was the installer, me!
I did not really tighten the top nut/screw on the shock.
Hence it gave me a squeaky toy sound.
Should have known better!
But it's my first coil over install and hey, I am learning.
Now set my preferred ride height

To lift your car on the ramp for an oil change?
Also was a bit worried that when I should ever need a tow, hopefully never

That it would be impossible to get it on the tow truck without damage.
As the ride stands now it is a 2 fingers gap, and rides much firmer.
In combination with the Tanabe sways there is almost no more body roll, dive, or squat....
Al in al the Tien basic is a better match then the H&R springs alone.
Should have gone this route in the first place.
Will try to do pix later, party to organize now....

Firmer, more planted, not as low as the H&R

Steering is noticeably more directed, acceleration and breaking is more fun now,
Sins dive and squat is almost none existence.
Main point here I would buy them again!
Got a feeling they will outlast the car.

I had a squeek with the JICs that sounded like I had a 500 pound cricket in the trunk. Turned out to be the top mounts had slipped to the side and the collar that slides over the top of the shaft was rubbing on the top mount. It grew progressively louder and drove me nuts until I figured out what it was.
