OK, apologies if I am covering old ground here, but I was not able to deduce what I needed from previous threads.

Heres the deal, I have the mounting kit for a spare wheel, but no spare wheel (or tire to go with it!).

My questions are two fold.


1) Am I able to mount a standard wheel and tire on the mount kit ?

2) Am I able to but any wheel as a spare? By this I mean what size do I need and what tire would I need. Also can I buy any make or is there a specific type that I need.

Finally if anyone knows where I can buy this at a reasonable rate that would be great.

I'm pretty sure you're going to need the special compact spare wheel and tire. If you could mount a standard tire/wheel combo on the mount you probably couldn't put anything into the trunk past it.
